Hello All,

Are the pearl(?)dot inlays at each end of the row of endpins the "hot dot style pickups" that he/she is talking about?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... &rd=1&rd=1

Wasn't there a discussion in a thread about this recently, someone was asking about inlays in the bridge like this? Has part of the original bridge been drilled out and/or does this hurt the guitar at all?

How about any other comments about this listing on ebay, does this one look any good? I'm keeping my eyes open for this era D55 and F50.

Thanks,
gilligan

Very likely, yes (in my humble opinion), Gilligan. Here's the recent thread you may be referring to.

The spots on either end of the saddle look exactly like the ones on My G-312, which I believe actually are the transducers. Not MOP inlays or covers. The endpin is different, though. Mine had a mini-jack installed instead of a regular ¼" phone jack. No idea why they did that, and I will eventually replace it.
Here's the post I originally entered here at LTG about this:

The bridge was drilled to place the hot-dots in. It was a factory- installed job at Westerly. I do not believe it affects the tone. No one, including luthiers, musicians, recording engineers, has ever had anything but good things to say about the tone .

Hi Gilligan:

You might want to ask seller to confirm the condition of the binding. It might just be the pic 'breaking up' or it might be something else.

No, the pearl dots cover the Hot-Dots, which were about the color of brown clay (sorta)...at that time (mid-70s), mini-plug jacks were all there were, and most folks swapped over to 1/4" strap plugs as soon as they could, because the mini-plugs (1/8") were a pain in the neck

Yes, Hot-Dots sounded great...one of my J-200s still has a pair installed.
