We were hoping to get a slip in Hope Marina, which is the "Premiere Marina on Lake Pend Oreille," and I just got a call that a slip became available. I don't say woo-hoo too often, but this is a real woo-hoo moment! It's really a nice marina, with an associated floating restaurant... our new "fish & cruise" tritoon is going to like it there!

I grew up in Narragansett Bay. I spent much of my time on and around water and boats. I now live in SE Arizona! Here there's only enough water to get your shoes wet.....

You keep on showing this beautiful scenery, around your home, of Lakes and mountains and I am gonna lead a group of LTGers to have their next get together there. Just kidding but I know the "whoo hoo" moment gave you a big smile and relief.
Just awesome pictures from you!

Congrats! Hardly anything better than floating and fishing!

What will you be fishing for?

Rainbows.

Formed by glaciers and encircled by mountain peaks and deep green forests, Lake Pend Oreille is Idaho's largest lake and one of the deepest inland lakes in North America. A renowned recreation and fishing mecca with a shoreline of 144 miles, its depth has been measured in excess of 1,170 feet. Anglers can try for multiple varieties of fish such as kokanee salmon, Kamloops rainbow trout, bull trout, and lake trout. In the winter the shallow areas near the lake outlet are favorites spots for ice fishing. Lake Pend Oreille is also the home of the 37 pound state record Kamloops rainbow trout.

Anyone remember Robin Leach?
Heh. Not applicable here, sorry to say. But when you've worked all your life, and your wife has, too, and you're breaking into the 70s club, you realize that not only do you only live once, you also don't live forever! So that money that you've prudently put away all those years -- no sense in leaving a bunch of it behind!

That's so beautiful, Cougar. Congratulations on the good life!

We have good friends that used to live in Sandpoint, so we visited their a bit over the years. In my opinion, it's one of the most gorgeous areas in all of the U.S.

Just funnin' you Coug ;]

We're in the land o' lakes here too, got a rather large Mad River canoe, which has to be portaged through a mosquito infested swamp, so I"m just a little jealous that's all ;]

PS watch out for Nessie when you're out on Ponderay Lake, I've head stories... ;]

Ponderay - Pend D'oreilles = hanging from ears = earings - Lake is 148 sq miles and 1150'/350m deep in places, 5th deepest lake in N America, home of Farragut Naval/Submarine base (Est. 1942), which probably accounts for the Nessie sightings.

One of my most favorite bumper stickers ever seen decades ago, I think was on the back of a motor home: "Spending my kids' inheritance"
