I was told that this fellow (the one in the rear) could easily overtake me if he needed to.

Lucky for me, he's not a carnivore!

Carnivore or not, he looks annoyed.

What do I know? I'm from the city.
Chickens terrify me (especially if they look annoyed, as they almost always do).

Wabbits too.

Apparently, no one told the 30 or so critters that had just crossed the road in front of us! Why DO they cross the road, anyway?

Don't fence me in,

He certainly could outrun you... ask the woman from UT who was trampled by a bison this summer. Made national news... she got to close and spooked him, causing him to toss his head. A branch caught on his head flipped off, whacked him on the hindquarters, and he just rushed the closest thing he saw... which happened to be her. All caught on video. She survived with some major bruising... and quite a story to tell. She freely admitted that she was too close...

I am VERY wary of the bufs when I go to YNP to fish every fall (was there just two weeks ago)... I've been run into the Madison R (while fishing) by the daily migration of the herd along the west entrance road on several occasions.

Gotta watch out for the elk, as well... fall is the rut, and the bulls can get mighty agressive. Only seen a bear once... out on the Slough Cr trail... don't care to see another.

I observed and videotaped a German tourist come just short of an elk thrashing in Jasper NP in Alberta, during the rut. I use longer lenses and he was using a basic point and shoot so, of course, he just HAD to get closer.....achtung, vorsicht!!

Wildlife can be really....wild!

At the field trip of the American Arachnological Society Meeting in OK, we went to the Wichita Mts. Wildlife Refuge. There was a herd of tourist acclimated bison, I was able to get within 10 ft. of them, though others were more prudent. A wildlife & nature photographer from MA who comes to the meetings regularly really got into it, he got closer than I did, and was kneeling, lying down snapping images all the while. He really paid for it, worse than bison mauling, he got chiggers all over him from head to toe   Non-plains people don't realize the summer fun we have.
