If you post a link (just paste - nothing special) and the source supports Facebook OpenGraph meta tags you'll get an expanded description!

This:
Code:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-Guild-Pilot-Advanced-4-String-Active-Bass-Bartolini-w-Preamp-195-Made-OHSC/114164671578e

Becomes this!

Neat! That's almost a bit scary...

If it's any consolation, the source website must be set up to do it. Here's an example of the code on my S300AD review page that shows how it happens:

Code:
<meta property="og:locale" content="en_US" />
<meta property="og:type" content="article" />
<meta property="og:title" content="Guild S300AD | GAD&#039;s Ramblings" />
<meta property="og:description" content="The Guild S300 is one of the most iconic of the Guild electric guitars. The S300A-D sports an ash body and Dimarzio pickups. GAD&#039;s review of the S300A-D." />
<meta property="og:url" content="https://www.gad.net/Blog/2020/02/25/guild-s300a-d-review/" />
<meta property="og:site_name" content="GAD&#039;s Ramblings" />

My blog is set up to do this dynamically via Wordpress and Plugins. The new LTG software is simply reading that information and formatting it appropriately. Here's a link for a page from my very old non-dynamic and non-modernly-coded site that doesn't take advantage of this:

But I still have to use my mouse and click on stuff, right? Isn't there an easier way?

Yes, but I'll need to solder some wires directly into your brain. Let me know when you'd like to have this done and we'll set up an appointment.

I'm ready whenever you are Doctor.

Cool! Before I saw this, I saw your posts and wondered how you were doing that. Again, much thanks, Gary!

Becomes this!

@GAD how will the URL render on this site when it suddenly goes away on the parent site (as happens with eBay auctions)? Just wondering if the pic and expanded description remain even though the link goes dead. It would be great if it remained because in the past, we'd see a "Check this out!" post with a link to Craigslist or eBay and after a few weeks, months, years, the link would go dead and we have no way to see what the post was about.

Hmm.. Let's test it. I created this page on my blog, linked to it, then deleted it:

I have now removed the post. For reference this is what the link should look like (this is a screenshot):

So far the link remains, but that may be due to caching on the browser or on the server. Let's see what happens.
