Hi, newbie to this forum. My only Guild right now is a Guild Starfire IV, its Corona built. Ive had some trouble identifying exactly which year it is made from the serial number. The number is CW000159. If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated. Also, reading through some info on the net, I know that Fender scrapped the Guild electic line, but I also read that they never really set up shop in Corona for these models, not sure how valid that is as some were saying it is pretty much like a custom model as alot of it was done by hand. I have no clue myself but if someone could enlighten me on a bit of the info on my guitar, it would make me very happy! :D
Thanks for lookin, and i'm happy to finally be a member in this forum!
Cheers,
Mikey

Mikey,

Welcome. I'm afeared I can't help you with your questions. Apparently Guild isn't making electrics for the time being, and I don't know a thing about how and where the ones of your era were made. But if you search the forum, you might find something about dating recent Guilds, etc.

Is it true you'll eat anything?

Mikey,

We geezers here remember an old cereal commercial on tv where a kid says, "Give it to Mikey. He'll eat anything."

We geezers also like hijacking threads. You can't do that at other forums because thay are to big, but at the Guild forum we are all one big crappy family.

Hello Mikey3,

Welcome! I'm not 100% sure, since some of the info in my database is a little conflicting but at this point I believe your Starfire IV is from 2003 (maybe 2004).
Hope this narrows it down though!

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

I don't know if you found any information on your cereal { } number yet but I found some links with Guild date info. I'm too lazy to go through it for anyone but myself. Feel free to investigate.

Hi Bob,

Believe me, the information he was looking for is not on any of these websites!

Sincerely,

I dated my B4CE at the first site by serial number. I thought Mikey might be able to do the same. :(

Hey Bob, ya I checked out those sites a while back, but thanks for trying to help out. The problem is that it's pretty tough, at least for me, to find dating information on Guild's made after 1999, cause I can't find the info anywhere. The Owner's manual for my guitar had a copyright for 2002, (not year of publication), I believe, so I knew my guitar was made during or after that year, but couldn't find any serial number info to back that up.

I once was dating a smashing fan-dancer,
To marry her, that was my plan.
Now it's all off with the smashing fan-dancer,
She fell down, and damaged her fan !

Aw, shucks Bob ! Thanks.

But wait; there's more !

Alas, that poor girl she's gone home to her mother,
'Til her fan is mended, or she gets another.

Maybe N. Am's don't realise, that what we call a fan/fanny ain't what a gal sits on !

Then Fan = a word that rhymes with cleaver? Does this have anything to do with the fact you're in the southern hemisphere?

PM sent.
