Howdy everyone, I have a Guild F30 on the way and I was wondering what you think of the F30 and what the letters after the model number mean. Also help with year

Model F30-E NT HG RW
Serial AF300433

Thanks in advance
Bill

Bill,
I would agree with TMGs deciphering of the suffixes to the model #. I checked the list of Guild SNs I consult, and F30 SNs end with AF300153 in 1995. So, I would guess yours was built sometime between then and the close of the Westerly plant... but wouldn't hazard more than that (the JF-30 appeared in 97, so maybe between 95 and 97?) I am sure Hans will be along and tell you more soon...

Hello Bill,

What TaylorMartinGuild said is correct. The E stands for 'electric', which means it came from the factory with a built-in Fishman transducer. The instrument was made during 1998.

Hello Dave,

That's one of the problems with the 'official' Guild list. The ending numbers for 1995 are not for the F-30 but for the F-30CE, which is a completely different instrument.

Sincerely,

Congratulations!

Wow, I have the same guitar (non-electric version) also from '98 with a serial number just a few below yours (ending in 418).

These are fabulous guitars. Similar in size/shape to a Martin 000 or OM. Enjoy!

I have a '98 F30R, which is the non-electric rosewood back/sides brethren to your mahogany back/sides F30.

Hey fungus,

Wildbill's F-30 has rosewood back & sides as well; hence the F30-E NT HG RW model designation. RW and R were both used to indicate it was a rosewood model.

Sincerely,

Thanks, Hans... yeah I realized that after I looked at his model # closer and then modified my post. Mine also uses "RW" on the label, but thought the "proper" model designation was "R".

Very neat that mine was made so close to Wildbill's!

Thanks for all of the help and great info everyone. I will post some pics when it arrives monday.

Hey fungusyoung, I agree its kinda cool that our F30,s are so close in build date. How do you like the tone of the smaller body?

Take it easy everyone and keep on picking
