Got the Reissue HB1 I ordered, and though I haven't plugged it in an played it, my initial impression is that I'm impressed!

Eyeballing it, it appears to be the same size as the older 1970's HB1s. A quick measurement with the calipers seems to confirm this, though I need to do more measuring when I'm not so darn tired.

Look carefully in the holes (that don't seem to line up quite right) and even the bobbin looks to be the right color.

Here it is laying on the strings of my Nightbird with its real early-'90s HB1s.

Even the back looks the same as the real deal, and it has solder connections (yeah!), though they're a bit different.

The little circuit board is similar to the old pickups, but folded over so that it takes up less room in the cavity. It's also coated with black goop, which I assume is an effort to keep the lead from shorting to ground.

The pickup came with a blue wire soldered on which I assume has the proper connector to slip into a modern Newark Street guitar.

Now I just need a guitar to put it in. Man, do I ever wish I still had my Guild S65...

All is not well. I tried to turn the screws so they'd exit the holes, and they are simply so misaligned that they cannot. I'll probably have to return this one and see if a better one can be sourced. Bummer.

From the pic it looks like the cover is soldered on crooked. The neck one I got was fine there.

The blue tube means it is a bridge pickup, the neck pickup uses red tube. And yes, the connector is the one that fit's to the Newark St. Collection circuit.

"BHK" on the label shows who the manufacturer is.
"BH" itself stands for Booheung Precision Machinery Co., Ltd., 629-4,, Namchon-Dong, Namdong-Gu, Inchon, Incheon-Gwangyeokshi, 405-100, South Korea.

The K behind the BH means simply Korea, as they also have a factory in China where the label would show BHC.
