'Gus' Arrived Yesterday

1979 D25 Sprucetop Cherry finish archback. It must have had a pound of dust on it... A few dings, as expected, no cracks... No damage although shipped FedEx in 'E' concert with endpin still attached... I brought Gus home last night and spent a couple of hours cleaning him up. Took him back to work this morning and my fellow office picker and I did some jammin' this afternoon. He's a real Taylor/Martin guy. After playing Gus he says: "You just made a Guild believer out of me. Can't believe the deep bass volume coming out of that heavy beast!" No idea when the strings were last changed; mediums of unknown brand. Looking forward to putting a set of JP 80/20s on this weekend. Happy, happy...

Graham, my first Guild was a 2004 Guild (Corona) D25. After following all the 'vintage D25' postings of the past several months, I wanted to see what the hoopla was all about. Wow... No comparison... I gave the Corona to our future son-in-law at Christmas as his first guitar... The action is a bit high, so I'll take Gus to Ross for a setup; not much saddle left; hope he doesn't drop the 'neck reset' bomb... :shock:

Gus before his clean up. I'll take some more when he gets back from Ross the magic luthier. Keys are not original. I'll probably replace them with Grovers
