Here's a photo that I took of my friend, Mary, playing her "all-time favorite" guitar at the weekend farmers market. I didn't recognize it, so I asked.

She said that she searched for this particuar model for over a year and it is now hers til death do they part.
I hope to play it soon so I'll have a report. Anyone else have experience with Gurians?

She appears to have a different form/strain of GAS,
Joe

**I edited in another photo since she's a friend and I don't want to embarrass her. She wouldn't understand LTG humor, as it surfaced in the post below.

They were nice guitars, probably still are. They had a brief period of popularity around here in the early-mid 70s. I believe the early models were built in NYC, late 60s, by Michael Gurian himself. He opened a shop in southern New Hampshire in the 70s, and made some very fine instruments. I had a partner with one for a while, very nice finger picking guitar, very similar in appearance to the one your friend has. If I remember correctly, they were in the same price range as a high end Martin, maybe even a little more. I would not hesitate to pick one up if I could find one at a good price. The shop was destroyed in a fire around 1980 and I don't know what happened to Michael after that. Coincidentally, my former partner's Gurian (and a Gibson solid body double neck) was also destroyed in a fire-his on the other side of the Connecticut River in southern Vermont!

At last, at last, at last, I finally got edited. No harm intended, just a little crude fun. At least it isn't as offensive as BP's

Sorry to disappoint, Bob, but you didn't get edited. Your post was still there last time I checked.
I switched photos for Mary's benefit.
No harm taken.

"as offensive as BP's?" I'm curious. What did I miss? :?

Well unless you haven't been watchin the news for the last 84 days, BP has a little crude spill in the ocean. Or maybe it was an attempt at a joke that should have just stayed between my ears, or maybe it just was plain bad attempt at a mediocre joke. Sometimes I should just stop typing

The Gurians are nice guitars , I have bought and sold a few . Rather an audience guitar rather than a players guitar though.
