It looks like some preferred selection from the more comprehensive list of presets available with Peterson tunersThis was posted on Facebook by our some time member @alpep. I have no idea offer who the source is.
Interesting merlin. I have a Perterson clip-on somewhere. It was too complicated for my needs so it went back into the box. Maybe I need to take another look or sell it to someone who uses a lot of tuning variations. It looks like some preferred selection from the more comprehensive list of presets available with Peterson tuners
Veer alert! I've tried a lot of different tuners, and the best one by a long ways is Pano Tuner, which I downloaded for free from the App Store years ago. Not sure if there's an Android version.Interesting merlin. I have a Perterson clip-on somewhere. It was too complicated for my needs so it went back into the box. I play in a lot of open tunings, although I haven't been playing much at all lately. There's a video on You Tube where James Taylor talks quite a bit about how he tunes and why he tunes a certain way. Let me see if I can find it. Here we go.... this is just interesting.
And a power winder too! C'mon Tom...The longer my guitars go without a string change, the harder it is to get them to pitch properly. My laziness is shocking. I have the strings.....
Thanks for your answer Sandy : I suppose this LTG member might have studied with Mr. Fripp, since this tuning to my knowledge is only his and some of his students'...Not a standard tuning (so far at least)...It uses fifths for the most of it (with a last string that's a 3rd up from last note)...This was posted on Facebook by our some time member @alpep. He still uses it almost exclusively, though he has recently been doing some playing in standard tuning when working with his wife. Thanks for your answer Sandy : I suppose this LTG member might have studied with Mr. Fripp, since this tuning to my knowledge is only his and some of his students'...Not a standard tuning (so far at least)...It uses fifths for the most of it (with a last string that's a 3rd up from last note)...
Should have made it more clear maybe, but the particular tuning (C-G-D-A-E-G) is the one Robert Fripp had used for a very long time (don't know if he still uses it)...
That's what I was wondering, if he used that tuning in his 'work' to please his wife...He still uses it almost exclusively, though he has recently been doing some playing in standard tuning when working with his wife.
As someone who also plays a bit mandolin and mandocello, I have often thought about trying this tuning, but have never done it
Oh man, you almost had me there until the part about a 12-string in perfect tune! Good one.Veer alert! I've tried a lot of different tuners, and the best one by a long ways is Pano Tuner, which I downloaded for free from the App Store years ago. Not sure if there's an Android version.
I still use the free one, which is ad supported (as you can see), but there is a paid version for $1.99. It is absolutely the most accurate tuner I've ever used, and the only requirement is that there's little to no ambient noise while you're using it. It was a real epiphany the first time I heard a 12 string guitar in perfect tune. Highly recommended!
I'm not kidding, it really will get a 12 string in perfect tune. Give it a try, it's free!Oh man, you almost had me there until the part about a 12-string in perfect tune! Good one.
$1.99, and no ads for the paid version. The ads never bothered me, so I just use the free one.Pano - what is the diff between the free and paid version?
