I tried posting this under the tech area, but it didn't show up so ill try it here.
I have a 1960 T-50 Guild with an original (?) Guildsby on it. The tailpiece has holes for three screws and a strap button, but only one hole has a screw in it. The other two don't even have a pilot hole. Is this normal, or is it a human error? Or is it that the strap button screw is enough to help hold it?

Hello Jerry,

It means that the Bigsby was added at a later date and the bridge as well. The person who did it probably didn't want to drill additional holes!

If you unscrew the Bigsby you will get your answer.

By the way, nice looking guitar!

Sincerely,

No reason that should have happened and no evidence I can find that it was actually posted. Probably operator or communications error. That doesn't matter because it look like you got a good and useful answer anyway.

Were there differences in Bigsby's over the years that might be used to date this one? This instrument is so clean for its age, a Guildsby added soon after it was built would also look new unless there's a way to date it.

A period correct Bigsby would have had the removable pins like in the attached photo.
