Welcome, Keefinator. Best of luck to you on your guitar search. Without doubt this is the best place for asking the experts. The guitar details the members here know is astounding. And on top of that you won't find kinder more helpful people anywhere. LTGers are the absolute best!

Congratulations on the new baby. When is the expected arrival?

The black 12 string is a JF30-12 and those usually sell for 950-1,300. The sunburst F50 looks like a great deal at 1700 if it does not need a neck reset. F50's usually sell for 1900-2,400. I have had several F50s and JF30-12s and love them both. If you are somewhat new to guilds and guitar buying, I would buy the F50. 6 string guitars are easier to play and easier to sell if you decide to move on from it one day. Good Luck!!

That's what it looks like to me.

I am just going to have to wait till I can try out some more guitars in person.

It seems like it is very hard to find a M-20 in store anywhere but that is one I would like to play.

I am relatively close to Nashville where I would imagine I would find a good amount of older guilds in their shops, perhaps selling at more of a premium though.

Welcome to the LTG!
If you are close to Nashville, I would visit Gruhn's shop on that main drag, Broadway I think it's called.
He was the product manager of Guild in the late 80s I think. I bet he often has old Guilds in his shop.
He would know more than most.

I have a Gold question. I have a D52 HG (high gloss). Based on the records the stopped making them in 1984. I has date stamp of 1993 and I bought it in 1994. The serial # is EK100178. Anyone know anything about this late model. Was it a custom guitar for someone given the late production date.

any Information is welcome.

Welcome to LTG BamaBigun! It's a Gold question as well! :) You can ask Hans Moust, he would know about your D-52 HG serial number. The records in the 80ies and 90ies are not correct in the list on the Guild webpage but Hans has the correct info. You can reach him via his webpage: http://www.guitarchives.nl/guitarsgalore/contact.php
Let us know here what you found out. It's always good to have feedback.

Keefinator,

The M20 is a much smaller guitar than the ones you start looking at. So, it's not going to have as much bass tones Which may be fine for the stuff you have in mind to play. If you are patient, you can find good deals on Guilds. My D-55 was about $1050 and the F47R was just about $1000. Of course, that was a few years ago and prices have gone up recently. I would keep you eyes on the For Sale section here, and at another forum , Acoustic Guitar Forum. They don't show up as often there, but they do pop up. If you see something on eBay or Reverb. post you questions about it here first. We can steer you clear of things you may not know to look for.

I would want others to comment on this one. The headstock looks not very precise.

I'm not positive, but I think that might be a listing for an LTG-er's guitar (twocorgis).

In my limited experience, each Tacoma-built Guild that I've tried has been a very fine instrument. Even one that was MIRC-refurbished.

All fine with that headstock! And yes, it is Sandy selling her, proof attached!

I have one (sunburst) that was made in New Hartford and it's a fantastic good guitar, regardless of finish.

Are you sure that you don't have a DV-52HG? That would fit in with the time period of the date stamp and the purchase. If you do have a DV-52HG, you have a most excellent guitar. They weren't made for long, just until 1997-1998, and then Fender started playing musical chairs with the factories building Guilds. I used to own a 1993 /1994 DV-52NT, which was the matte finish version; yours should be the high-gloss finish (hence the HG at the end of the model number). In 1993/1994 they had a herringbone rosette, later on they moved to a mother of pearl rosette.

Hello BamaBigun,

Welcome! What you have is a Guild DV52 with a High Gloss finish. The D52 model designation that is written on the label is the result of bad communication between the sales dept. and the work floor.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust
