Took delivery today of a ‘ 85EB7F18-CF82-4241-B76C-C3D6A49504FA.jpegCCCBA2A6-121E-4424-8593-D56D774E26BF.jpeg18B1A935-FCD7-4D6C-AE7B-1C320449924A.jpeg[
53 x330 with serial number 1063. Fair amount of work has been done, including a shiny refinish of the front that sanded off some top laminate. Some questionable parts(bridge, tailpiece) It plays well and clean. It’s fun comparing to my virtually original ‘54 x150, serial number 1555.

Are those replacement bridges on both? Or did they start making stepped compensated bridges later (Definitely by 1960.)

Congrats! We had discussed the guitar in two other threads last year. Glad she seems to be a good guitar! And fits great into your collection!

Thanks for that... I knew it had been for sale for a while, but hadn’t seen the earlier thread. Yeah I was more concerned about the neck set than the nasty refinish. There are signs of a neck reset but a really good one and the guitar plays beautifully. Lots of acoustic in it and no unwarranted noise from pickup. Perfect frets of original size (using my ‘54 as guide)

Wow ‘53? Man that’s an oldie. Congratulations, looks like she found a real good home.

That is the x440 I presume on your profile...what a gorgeous thing!!

Thanks -- and likewise! Ours are not exactly littermates (separated by 700 instruments), but they have very similar appointments -- and it seems like all of these early Guilds have a slightly different mix of features.
