Hello everyone! I am new to the forum and a proud owner of quite a few Guild guitars myself..... 12 to be exact! I was just curious as I know only very little about them, and the majority was from inheritance. Not to sure if I'm even posting in the right section, but I hope I am! Anyway if someone could give me more information or a good link to read up on these sky hawks or serial information it would be highly appreciated! Thank you all for your time and happy playing :)(y) 20220425_083938.jpg

Serial numbers are here: http://support.guildguitars.com/downloads/datingyourguild.pdf

The chart can be tough to read for some, so if you get stuck just give a shout and we'll help out!
Hey man I really appreciate that so much! I actually have a total of 5 skyhawks, but they're all different. I definitely have some that are way prettier than this guy above. I can always post some pics up of the others as well.

I can't actually find the photos of my others, I will have to pull them out and take some newer pics, but these are beauties, especially the orange sunburst one!

I want to say only about 80 made? But it's late and I'm not gonna commit to that. :)

Edit: I think "less than 200" is a better statement. Possibly 172.

That's crazy, I can see why it's more of a rare guitar! I like the head stock on that X80 more than the X79, that's just my opinion. Guild's electrics seemed to have more of a unique body style compared to other brands, that's what I like about them! Don't get me wrong, they had their fair share of ugly ones as well

The X79 headstock of that era is cool because it mimics the body shape, but as I'm sure you're aware they're too damn fragile.

I like the X80s a lot bettter than the X79s, and I like the X79s just fine. I've owned three X80s and still have two:

Since both are maple they're both substantially heavier and more solid feeling than the X79s. I'd love to hear your take on the X79 DLX and if you get the same feeling with that one.

BTW nothing on the sunburst X80 is original. I got it from a guy in Westerly (drove up there to get it) and he had bought the body and restored it as much as he could. The blonde one obviously needs new knobs. :)

I totally agree with you 100% buddy, those guitars you got there are gorgeous! A lot of character in those git-fiddles! I was gonna actually say that the X79s are remarkable, don't get me wrong, but they seem almost a little too lite. I definitely love what seems to be all natural finish on the one on the left, or as you said "Blonde"! Thanks for sharing those with me! Another thing out of my own curiosity, what is the best way to clean these beauties?? Not to sure on the paint! Damp rag?? Microfiber cloth??
