Hi all,
I was hoping some of you could help shed some light on this for me, I came across a Guild x-50 archtop a little bit ago, and have come to realize I'm not an archtop guy. I want to trade it for something else or sell it.
My question to you all is what is this thing worth? I would appreciate any help on this.
Thanks alot,
Willy

Welcome aboard Willy. That thing looks exceptionally clean for it's age.

Hopefully someone with the latest vintage guitar price guide will chime in & note what the guitar "should" be worth. However, the best indicator of the current market is usually to spend a little time searching completed ebay auctions. Gbase is also another decent resource to get a ballpark of what dealers area asking.

What are you looking for in a trade?

Hi Don,
I have been looking on ebay and there haven't been any in the last month that I can find,
as for trades I am a solid body body guy. or the one guitar I would love to find is a Guild f65ce, I haven't seen one since I worked at Sam Ash in 98. Heck, It took me quite a while to figure out what the model number of it was. We had one in the acoustic room and I absolutely loved it! At that time also we had a d55 that was without question one of the fullest Guitars I have ever played. I'm rambling, sorry.
Thanks for the response
Willy

What year is that guitar? And is that a Guild-branded hardshell or a chipboard case?

Both of my X50s were earlier 50s versions. X50s have been trading under $1000 for the last couple of years, up from $700-800 a while ago.

Hi,
yes its the original Guild hardshell case. As for year I'm not sure the serial number is 46450 does that work?

Thank,
Willy

That's a beauty! My 1961 A-50 has been appraised at $600, but that was a few years ago - it's older now (good), but slightly more beat up (bad). This one looks more valuable to me, plus it's an X-50 - you should be able to get a good price.

Let us know when it goes up for sale!

Vintage Guitar Price Guide has them at $950. to $1250. depending on condition. Yours appears to be in great condition, so more twords the $1250. range..... but Guilds never seem to fetch what they are listed for in the guide when they are auctioned in the real world. It is more the price a reputable dealer would ask. On Ebay you might get $700. to $1000., I'd guess.
