Ok, I' m guilty : another topic about a guitar I am interested in.

But this time it seems to have everything I am looking for : real vintage vibe, bigsby, playwear but structural ok ( neck heel ok, trussrod ok, binding ok,...), original pickups,... Original case is not there but oh well... Some fretwear but maybe a refret is not necessary immediately. I really want to go for this one. What do you think. Am I missing something or should I really go for it ?

I love the look of it! If I assume you know how it plays and sounds, and the price is right, go ahead!

It looks good at first glance and has the original tailpiece and bridge so that's good, too. I think the big question is the neck angle and break angle over the saddle. You'd need a photo from the side of the guitar so you can see if the bridge can still be lowered and if there is sufficient angle over the saddle so the strings don't buzz. Otherwise it could need a neck re-set.

I only saw it online so no hands on experience with this one. But I like these guild mini humbuckers a lot ( have experience with the mini's in my newark starfire) . I like the format of the guild x 175 ( I have a korean one). I also had one time a real vintage x 175 for a short in my hands - guitar from Walter- and never forgot how fantastic I felt. (Struck by lightning really). Price is round 2500 EUR, shipping included.

Edit : to be clear I'm just a very modest bedroom player, so absolutely not in the " pro league" of Walter. He works in the best guitarshop in Antwerp and beyond and that is where I saw and held his wonderful guild x 175 ( with the fransz pu)

Yeah, the action looks a little high and, whether or not you can lower the bridge, the break angle with the Bigsby looks pretty marginal as-is. It's a fine line, b/c they work and play really nicely when they set up with a pretty shallow break, but I'd be apprehensive of buying w/o having it in hand.

Also, what the heck is that Bigsby? @Walter Broes you ever see one with that little open-book design cast into it?

[EDIT] That's a weird sunburst in the way it follows around the rim of the cutaway and then mirrors that outline on the bass bout.

My 1967 has the same Sunburst pattern! (And much more black!)

I don't think the Pickguard is original on the 1968 as you shouldn't see the slot in the bracket. It's also a little crooked.

Have sent a request for an addtitional photo from the side. Keep you posted if I may. I could live with the guitar without bigsby but bigsby is a nice extra.

My best guess would be that somebody got creative with a B6 Bigsby and "embellished it". You do run into Bigsbies that are engraved, reshaped, etc....
Merle Travis had a guitar with an elaborately engraved Bigsby on it.

I kind of like the "reshaping" to be honest.

The seller advertises the guitar as having "some serious roadwork but excellent playability". He has a good reputation on facebook. So let's hope he sends the extra pictures soon and everything is fine. I really hope this is the "one"!

Well, I already had given up but the seller sent me a message that he is on holiday for a few days and said he would send some extra pics on tuesday.

Meanwhile are there some other things I could/should ask ?
I'm thinking : - string height at 12 th fret
- serial nr (or is this not done ?)
- others...
