really it is d'addario strings with guild branding

During the FMIC years, some strings were made in Fender's string manufacturing facility in Mexico.

Thanks, GG. For some reason that Guild = D'Addario across the board statement didn't seem right to me, but I didn't know why. Now I do, so thanks for that. Sometimes I know the answer to stuff but I can't really back it up because I don't know the "why". This is why.......

From the early to mid 1980s (at the latest), I'll bet these were made by D'Addario.

Does Guild still make guitar strings?

As far as I know they never did. At various times they did have some other company make strings, perhaps to Guild's unique specs, and they were marketed and sold under the Guild brand name. Often the manufacturer was D'Addario but not always.

And of course, Mark Dronge, son of Guild founder Al Dronge, is the person behind DR Strings/

I have a sealed set the seller left in the case of my F50R. Not sure if I should try them out or just leave them in the case for nostalgia purposes.

We were given a set of "Standard Tension" L-350 strings as swag during one of the New Hartford factory tours, and now that I think about it, I really should use mine!

I'm not sure who actually made them, but if it was D'Addario, they don't have the unique color coded ball ends.

Guild used to sell their own name brand strings a long time back, but they didn’t actually make them. Now that I think about it, Guild doesn’t even make guitars anymore... Well sorta... Cordoba Guitars (famous for making excellent classical guitars) bought the bankrupt Guild company and saved the day. And no, Cordoba doesn’t make strings either.

Welcome to LTG, but sorry to say, your answer is wrong regarding Guild and that Guild is not making guitars anymore. Please inform yourself before you spread such wrong sounding messages on the internet. Especially as a first message on a forum that is not a nice way to introduce yourself.

Let me help you out nevertheless: "Cordoba Guitars" did never buy Guild.
Cordoba Music Group (not Cordoba Guitars!) bought the Guild brand name (and not "a bankrupt company" as you describe it) from Fender Musical Instruments Corporation back in 2014 and built a brand new factory for Guild in Oxnard. This topic is covered a thousand times already and I really don't want to go into it any further.

Regarding strings read post # 10.

Regarding current Guild production in USA read it from the source: https://guildguitars.com/guitars/acoustic-guitars/guild-usa/

Picky Picky... You didn’t have to go into it in the first place. Calm down... It’s okay to be wrong. It’s okay to be corrected. So I stand corrected. I’m not into arguing over pedantics though, and clearly this is just another pedant’s forum. Pedants like you are no fun, not cool, and way too hostile!!! Thank goodness at least I spelled “Cordoba” right. But I really don’t want to go into it any further.

Jim Dandy (love that Black Oak Arkansas song) - welcome to LTG. Stick around and you'll learn as much as you want (and even more) about Guild, and it's guitars.

I'll give you a pass now but this language from an established member this would be close enough to a personal attack that it would be moderated. I may be misjudging you, and if so I apologize, but at this point you are acting like a troll. Perhaps you could start a thread to introduce yourself and tell us what your interest is in Guilds?

Jim Dandy, maybe listen more and react less here. There's a ton of people here that are more than knowledgeable about Guild guitars and products and their history and you can really pick up a LOT of information. But watch your tone! SFIV1967 is a very revered member and when he speaks, I listen. As do many others. You started with misinformation and he corrected you, and then you turned very rude and condescending. We don't do that here. fronobulax's last sentence seems like a really good idea. Introduce yourself, tell us about your connection to Guild, and watch how differently people will respond to you. Do that, and you'll most like get "Welcome to LTG!!"
