I am hoping to track down some Guild strap buttons. Anybody have a pair of buttons that they are willing to sell? Or, know where I might find a set for sale? I know some folks who have some, but with shipping to the states, they would be quite pricy.

There were a few different ones over the years. Posting a pic if what you’re looking would help.

I just emailed him. According to his site, he seems to be charging $40 per strap button! If that’s right, that’s insanely expensive! Hopefully, I am not understanding the price ing on his site.

I've always considered them just generic Gibson-type parts.

i have some Guild strap buttons. can check today if they are the right ones.

i've bought some things from Ken Nash. generally his prices are reasonable enough that if I need something small and he is the only source, it is attainable. 40 does sound high for a strap button, but I am not up to speed on all the different vintage Guild strap buttons and their levels of scarcity. If Ken has one that absolutely nobody else has, and he is the only source, 40 each could be reasonable, relative to that. his prices may also include shipping and handling.

however, whatever i have, they are not 40 each, no matter what (they are less).

Exactly. If you invested in collecting rare items it is your best right to also sell them like rare items. Nobody has to buy them...But if you want them they will be worth it. If there are lower priced sources use the lower priced sources. People pay >$500 for two vintage HB-1 humbuckers and Guild sells new copies for $160 a pair, so its up to the buyer to choose what he wants and what he wants to pay for.

And yes, you can buy an original one pair of Guild strap buttons for $80 or a not close Gibson pair for $5.40 from StewMac...

I've always considered them just generic Gibson-type parts.
No, they are different from the Guild strap buttons...just saying.

Thanks for looking.

Ken has now raised the price to $50 a piece. This is very high for these. I‘ve seen them sell often enough for $5-$10 each. Right now I can find them for $5 each plus $13 shipping.

I received the buttons today. And, I remembered that you requested a photo. Here are NOS Guild MI-401’s that I received:

I believe the "MI-401" is not a Guild part number but an inventory number from Hans. "MI" for "miscellaneous".

Ralf

You could very well be correct. However, I do know that at least one other seller is using the same number for the same buttons. Maybe he/she just adopted Hans’ system.
