Tuesday's are concert videos and pale ale night at a friends. I always look at the instrments and lo and behold the last two weeks a Guild has shown up. One in a Glass Hammer video and another in a April 14, 1970 concert of Creedence Clearwater Revival at the Royal Albert Hall. Tom Fogerty is playing a white tail harped Starfire VI the entire set of 12 songs.

It's also on Youtube.

And that's not even the one he used to do Proud Mary On the Ed Sullivan show:

If memory serves me correctly, I don't think I've ever seen Tom Fogerty with any electric other than a Guild Starfire.

Awesome video post Aristera! April 14, 1970. Wow. Not a bad sounding production considering it was 44 years ago. I always loved John Fogerty's voice.

I wish I was back on the bayou rollin with some cajun queen too!

well, I had no idea how much Tom loathed John. He basically said F-off on his deathbed to John.
So sad.

No question. Very sad. Apparently tensions began to rise as John Fogerty began to take over more and more creative control of the band...redubbing other band members parts in the studio himself because he wasn't satisfied, etc. And of course, John's longstanding feud with Saul Zaentz and Fantasy records over royalties and the rights to the Credence songs...it's pretty common knowledge that John Fogerty wouldn't perform any Credence songs for years because of it. I also don't think that Tom Fogerty siding with the record company over royalties and continuing a close friendship with Zaentz after Credence broke up helped things either to say the least.

Huge CCR fan here.

Thanks for sharing that link. i love these older concert videos where the bands are set up so closely together. Yeah, no doubt it had something to do w the inferior sound reinforcement from back in the day, but I like to think it had had less to do w them thinking "show" and more to do w the hookup that comes from being that physically close to each other.

.....and also, there's footage of John playing an M-75 Bluesbird or similar Guild on the show. Our information wizard, Ralf, would know for sure.
Ha, ha! Advanced search is your friend!

Correct, John, not Tom. Here's a teaser picture and the video from the 1969 Ed Sullivan show:

Here is Hans info about that M-75: http://www.letstalkguild.com/ltg/sh...)-with-Guild&p=1265939&viewfull=1#post1265939
"It's the very first version of the M-75 that Guild reissued at the end of 1967 and the first model that would be marketed as the BluesBird in 1968. It has some very specific features that distinguish it from the later models, namely the body joint at the 16th fret and the unbound back, just like the early Aristocrats. According to what I have in my database, about 50 of these guitars were made in that configuration. The guitar John plays in the video looks like it was probably one of the last ones (of those 50 guitars) since it already has the slightly heavier tailpiece (see photo BluesBirds on page 57 of The Guild Guitar Book). It's also funny to see that the guitar's headstock overlay was already suffering from shrinkage, which problem was eventually solved a couple of years later."

And just to add Tom and his white Starfire VI (always with tailpiece and not with Guildsby)

And his Starfire VI in Walnut:
