I saw this on this Reverb listing . . .

https://reverb.com/item/32267108-1965-guild-starfire-iii-cherry-red

. . . and wondered if anyone knows anything about the letter "T" in the serial number.

Does it look like something a previous owner simply added, or is this some kind of official Guild designation for a second or a B-stock instrument? The label doesn't say anything on it to corroborate that it's a part of the serial number.

Just came across this and I was just wondering. Hans?

Looks to me like it's just a fluke that the "-" got a little mark below it that makes it look like a "T", if it's even a "mark", could even just be a lighting artifact.

That fits it to a T.

Yep, looks like the normal dash to me, with a vertical scratch or slight gouge below it.

Please, don't ever change.

It might not be easily visible on a smaller/phone sized display but I can see the "EK-267" pretty clearly which matches the label, although the "E" is a pretty shallow impression.
But that's the primary reason I think it's just the normal "-" with possibly a minor gouge added somewhere in its life.

Ok. Then it's just my imagination running wild, which is nothing new. :smile-new: I guess it's because I don't recall ever seeing a serial number stamp on a headstock with a dash in it.

Now that I see the EK I'd definitely go with dash (hyphen, really).
