I hesitated to post this as I'm not quite sure how to proceed if someone pops up and says "I have one. Send me a $1000." But anyway...

I'm interested in an S-300. My preferences are Guild pickups, light weight and original case. Plus I'm not too crazy about black guitars but it's not a deal breaker.

I'm in Va. USA.

Thanks.

You do realize the guitar would be a solid body electric? Not sure 'light weight ' would be applicable.

The S300 is a great guitar. I never had one that was lightweight. The ash model was as heavy as they come as there is a lot of wood involved. The mahogany was perhaps lighter....But not lightweight. Other than that I think you will really enjoy this model.

By light weight I mean under 7.5 pounds. Up to 8 wouldn't be a killer.
The one person I've spoken with said the S-300 he had for sale was 7.01 pounds but it's beat to hell (would need a re-fin) and we couldn't meet on an agreeable price.

I love S300ADs but that’s gonna be anything but lightweight.

Here ya go.

Very nice! Too bad it doesn't include the original case. I liked the Super Distortion PAF combo on these. I remember the weight being in the 10 lb. category....or at least it felt like it! But I loved them none-the-less.

It actually was pretty light. Seven pounds nine ounces. About average for a Strat or Tele.
So I bought it.
It's not exactly the version I wanted and I'll now have to search forever looking for a case but you never know what might turn up.
I like the DiMarzio's okay and have them (I think) in my X-79 but I also have the Guild humbuckers in several other old Guilds.
I liked the pickups in my '63 Thunderbird so much that I figured I'd like the '70's version also.
I really appreciate the help and that was a good catch richard69. That had only been listed for an hour when I saw your link.
The guitar has to travel from Calgary, Canada to Va. so it'll take a while. I'll report in when it gets here.
I just hope the seller was straight on the weight. (I own an eight pound '72 Tele Thinline that was sold to me as 6.5 pounds!)

I've had six+ S300ADs and they've all been around 8-8.5lbs . They're dense, though, so they seem heavier than they are. If you're used to an X79 this is going to be a very different feel.

Density is everything, though. I have an original US Steinberger and it weighs 7lbs 8oz but because it's so small it feels like an anchor. It's crazy how heavy it feels when my Starfire III weighs about the same but feels like a super light-weight in comparison.

I would think your X79 would have XR7s, but Dimarzios were an option if memory serves. Or maybe that was EMGs.

I don't know what's in the X79 (they're original, though). I like that guitar alot, especially after I had it set up to split out the coils.
Well, unlesss the seller has lied to me the S300 AD is about seven and half pounds.
The S200 is close to nine pounds but it feels okay, actually.

There was the 2 humbucker version and the 3 single coil X79's. I believe the HB's were XR7s stock. XR7's are technically Dimarzios. IMO the SD and PAF are much better sounding pup's. The Super Distortion in the S300-D were SD2's I seem to remember.

Could somebody post a pic of their S330 case so I'll know what I'm looking for.
The case for my X79 is a nice beige/tan case with a raised metal logo. The one good pic I saw of an S300 case looked more like a black Fender case.

They all look like that with either black or brown covering depending on the year. The ones I've seen all had the Guild logo on them. Inside is blue and the layout can be a bunch of different ways.

I have owned two and neither were what I would consider heavy especially compared to other solid body models, but mine were both hog, not ash.

however, I wish you good luck. They are super fun and the ebony board was probably my favorite feature on this model. I kind of see this model - though not well-regarded widely at the time - as a middle finger to the strats and Les pauls of the day. This model will always have that cool factor to me. My son begged me not to sell the last one I had. Maybe one day I’ll get him one. Reverb has a few right now.

I figured I'd follow up.
Bad news and good news.
Had to pay an extra $121 in brokerage fees to UPS. The guitar came in a Reunion Blues gig bag (no box).

The good news:
The gig bag worked fine. Obviously a really nice gig bag (the guitar travelled about 3500+ miles).
The guitar is about a 9/10 condition wise (or even better).
It weighs just 7 pounds 6 ounces. Even fairly light for a Strat.
By the way, this appears to be a '79.

So the obvious question is can anyone sell me one of these knobs (you can see one of mine is missing the little aluminum insert).
And a much longer shot...Anyone got a correct case for sale?
I appreciate everyone's help and advice.

Very nice! You are going to love it! I've had a few AD's wish I still did! Good luck with the case.
