Stopped in last night to pick up what I had hoped was a mis ID'd D-25-12 per a thread in the ebay/craigslist section of the forums and while waiting for them to do the return paperwork I wandered into their acoustic room.

I saw this new pretty little burst cutaway Guild on the wall and of course I had to try it.

I was not in a great mood as I was really hoping to wrap my paws around a big hog 12 and hear some glorious Westerly magic so I picked this up with absolutely no expectations and frankly was a tad pessimistic.

Whoa.....

I played it for a few minutes just finger picking. It had some rather odd birdseye spots in the grain in ebony back but what a great guitar. I immediately looked around to see if they had changed the configuration of the room or wall material or something. This little beast just filled the room with sound and I was thinking maybe they had done something to the room to enhance sounds like a clothing store mirror would make you look slimmer. I found one of the GC thick red picks laying on an amp and decided to strum a bit. Hmmmm..So, again, still being in a bit of a foul mood I decided to push it a little....little beast pushed right back!!

I'm heading back there at some point today to confirm my feelings. i just checked the specs as I can't seem to warm up to 1 3/4 nuts but this was fine and just confirmed it's a 1 11/16.

Anyone else have one???

...with a stunning, arched, striped ebony back and striped ebony sides...

That is just crazy good looking! And what a great bunch of features! Braceless ebony archback! No wonder it sounds great. I want one!

I love that ebony!!! The back and sides are laminate in the 200 series, but who cares if it sounds like Heaven?? I hope to see an NGD. Sure is a pretty thing! And a great price for a new guitar with a warranty. (y)

My local guitar store signed up as Guild dealer a few years ago. He brought in most of the 100 level Westerly Series and first couple of Oxnard models and they are collecting dust. The only ones that seem to move are the 200 series models. The bad Canadian exchange rate is not helping with that.

I don't have the 260e, but I do have the 240e. It's a great guitar for the price. I'm still hunting for something that can handle a little heavier strumming, but these OM's are great for a versatile style ( fingerstyle, flatpicking, medium strumming), and the body is super comfortable. It's not a bass heavy guitar, but it definitely projects very well unplugged and plugged in

My first post here. I bought a 260CE in natural and ebony in September. It has become my office stand guitar, always there ready to be picked up and played. I leave it out because not only is it a pretty guitar, it sounds very nice in a small room too. Glad to see others think well of it.

The only reason I ended up not buying it was the fact that my guitars are all very visible now hanging on the wall in my dedicated room...otherwise I would have probably snuck it in. Sure has helped with my playing time tho...every night after work top off the humidifier and grab what looks good at the moment

I played my offshore Om 140 last night for a bit, Mark WW and I both grabbed them at Wal-Mart on line for a dumb price, fun little guitar as well. Makes it hard to pick up the F-30 sometimes as it is so pretty and sounds so good.

Enjoy and welcome to the LTG Forums!!

Similar story as well. At GC just looking around and stepped into the acoustic room and it was like love at first sight. Looks fantastic, play’s great and seems well built. Really happy with it. Preamp is pretty crappy for sure. I am going to replace it with a Fishman

Ralf,
Thanks so much for the warm welcome. I have replaced the Fishman Sonitone with a Fishman Ellipse Matrix Blend. Installation was straight forward and I was even able to use the existing battery compartment rather than the battery bag. Sounds incredible! I primarily use this guitar for the stuff that I play that’s tuned 1/2 step down. The ebony seems to lend itself well for that lower, darker sound. BTW I spent 3 years in Mannheim in the mid seventies and enjoye it immensely. My oldest son was born in Heidelberg and I currently have another son living in Ramstein. We are hoping to get over there for a visit as soon as possible.

I'm assuming you're referring to Sawchyn, I noticed on the website the D20 may have moved, but I think the OM150 has been there a while, if I had the cash I would be very interested in it.

Yes Sawchyn. The D20 seems to be still on the website, it's been in the store for years and I didn't care much for it when I tried it, but then I am not used to hardwood tops. He had ordered a D55 as soon as they were released, but then cancelled the order after waiting for a year or so. I sure was super disappointed as I have never played one and really wanted to see it. Unfortunately not much love for Guilds here, people prefer their Martins and Gibsons etc.

I've never played a D55 either, I'd never even seen a Guild in a shop in my life before visiting Sawchyn. I think people just don't know Guilds well in Saskatchewan. I'd actually love the D20 but I can't afford another guitar in that price range, I feel bad about that situation, if they stop as a Guild dealer then there's nothing in the province again.

Can't say I do!
The borders of Saskatchewan, which make it very nearly a trapezoid, were determined in 1905 when it became a Canadian province. Saskatchewan has a total area of 651,036 square kilometres (251,366 sq mi) of which 591,670 km 2 (228,450 sq mi) is land and 59,366 km 2 (22,921 sq mi) is water.

Ray...!!!!!!?????
