I was thinking of getting a guitar cabinet to use with my new VHT super 6 combo to maybe increase horsepower. GC has a 60’s Guild 140 cabinet on their site for $250. I am an amp novice. Any idea as to whether these were ups be compatible?

If it has JBL K-140 inside like I've seen on pics - it will be a killer cab for that money.

It is likely to just be an Oxford. Everything thing I have from that era is Oxford, except for the SuperStar, that one had the optional JBL.

Thanks folks! I appreciate the insights! The VHT has an ohm selector on the back so should be good there.

JBL D-140F according to that page. Wouldn't the 140 badge point to it?

What frequently happens with Guild amps is the good parts (tubes and speakers) get robbed and replaced with "value leader" components. It's not what the badge says until Dave has it in his house.

I overpaid for the SuperStar, because the seller was going to remove the JBL, and replace it with whatever he had in storage. I told him that that was a dealbreaker, and just to tack on the price of whatever he would get for it.

It's not that I'm a cynic, I've seen how nobody bothers to even play through a Guild amp before they decide to gut it and make a Fender.

You might check with Action Sound in Hawkins, Kelly has a ton of amps and cabs. It should only be an hour or so from Rockwall. Worth giving them a call.
