Markus, thanks - it sounds good too!
Narrow nut however - have owned several D17s,
all were the same narrow 1 5/8" nut and small neck.

I agree, that D17 sure looks great and unique. ,An all hog arched back dread. Like the white binding too. Bet it's heavy too which I have found helps the sound projection.

Woody - the top woods on all the D17s I've owned have been
consistently rich with very even-looking grain - noticeably different from
other hog-top Guilds. I'd even go so far to say there is a sense
of somewhat higher-end finishing on the 17s.

That 15 just glows....but I also like the non stained hog on the 17. Reminds me of the back and sides of my D-26

Boy those are clean machines!

Interestingly, my '88 D15 has the narrower paddle headstock.

Thanks dread!
I will confess to having an irrational preference for paddle heads ;)
This guitar also has a satin finish on the body vs gloss for some, if not all, of the snake head versions.

Wow, that looks really shiny for a satin finish!

Very satin - here's a photo taken outside, note the soft diffusion of the light reflection on the left.

The finish on the neck appears to be somewhat higher gloss than the body.

In sheen and texture, the finish is very similar to the satin-finish Corona D25, which
was made nearly 2 decades later.

Also attaching detail photo of an '86 D15 I owned awhile back - another paddle head - finish
was the same as this one, satin body with a noticeably glossier neck.
