I used acoustic strings on all my Guild acoustic-electrics - I've had a bunch of them.
The GX and S4CE stood out!

Do those use acoustic or electric strings?

walrus

It will take either. I have electric 10s on mine. Check out how it's grouped in the 1990 price list:

Would not have considered the Nightbird 2 an "Electric-Acoustic"!
I was wondering if that was the one with the f-holes, only reason it would qualify as an acoustic that I could think of, but that was actually the Nightingale:

So yeah I'm kinda scratchin' my head too.

Or is there a connection or just another factory literature goof?

Next time my Songbird needs new strings I'm going to try it with electrics - maybe even flatwounds - since the acoustic sound is really nothing to write home about.

I enjoyed playing the GX and S4CE amplified or not, funky / boxy as
the un-amplified sound was.
Been trending toward using D'Addario Light EXP 80/20 bronze, being more
into flat-picking than than anything else.

My GX is scheduled for delivery today! It's coming via FedEx.....which is my least favorite carrier here. They have sit conditioned vehicles, which UPS does not. That's a good thing here in AZ. But today will be in the 80s....so not so much. But my FedEx guy is a young guy. I live about 3 miles in on a fairly rough dirt road. He does about 60mph. Everyone has 10 ply tires here because of the mesquite thorns etc. So that truck sounds like a pyledriver! Going 60! I know he's coming from 2 miles away! Lol.
This is my place. The white roof to the left. Yeah, it is out there! Everyone within 3 miles will know I had a delivery today! Lol. ( there's 2 people within 3 miles....so all is good!)

That's some beautiful scenery in your neighborhood, and it looks like you don't need to worry much about attenuating your amps for the neighbors.

Lol....no not much! Those mountains are the Chiricahua's. Stan Jones wrote "Riders in the Sky" in ode to these mountains. He was born and raised near here.

They're cool guitars. Here's a pic of me playing the one discussed above at the last LMG. That's Grot's elbow on the right. :)

Nice view you have there. seems you wouldn't have a connection to any communications. I bet you go through a lot of ammo.

The GX arrived yesterday. Very happy to have another after all these years. It's a player, not a collector, just what I needed. It'll be a great couch guitar. I don't leave my acoustic out of its case due to the humidity, or lack of, here in AZ. I keep my Strat in the stand as a noodler. This will now allow a bit more flexibility.
