Guild’s 2007 GAD-25 acoustic guitar has solid mahogany top, back, and sides, giving it a warm and powerful voice. The beautiful dreadnought-size body is trimmed with wood binding around the top and back, purfling around the top, and wood mosaic down the back seam, then protected with a glossy finish. The 25.5" scale neck is three-piece mahogany, the 12"-radius fretboard and bridge are Indian rosewood, and the nut and bridge saddle are bone. Mother-of-pearl is used for fret position inlays and the headstock’s Chesterfield logo. Guild issued this guitar with a handsome tweed hardshell case, which is included in excellent condition.
Guild’s high-quality construction gives this guitar a balanced and lively tone, full-sounding at all pitches without booming or spiking, and with clear definition of every note in a chord.
This guitar has minor fret wear. Superficial pick scratches, on the pickguard and adjacent finish, are visible in bright sidelight. The action is 3mm at the 12th fret, which has felt and sounded great for me. It could be lowered, if desired, by sanding the bottom of the bridge saddle, which is about 5mm high.
