Yeah, I know, I know, many of you hate the PG. O.K., so just don't buy one and you're all set.
I really like this guitar a lot and personally, have zero problem with the PG. If it were a plain old PG that would be fine as well. I don't buy (or not buy) guitars based upon something so trivial. This guitar is a sound machine and the Maple neck and Maple back and sides grain is really attractive, I believe. I also love the headstock, fingerboard and board inlays as well. In fact, let's just say I love this guitar. I truly think all Maple guitars should have a tiger striped Maple neck.
I didn't always love the G 45. I bought it from a brick and mortar store as NOS a year or two ago. Although I loved the looks I didn't love the tone or the playability. I took it to my local Luthier who set it up with Low E string action at about 3/32" and restrung it with a set of GHS medium Gauge strings and now this guitar sings like a bird. The guitar is pretty minty and I don't often say that about a used instrument. In this case though i think it is very true.
I've been blessed with a plethora of really great sounding Maple guitars with offerings from Martin, Gibson and of course Guild. primarily Guild actually. I was thinking of letting this one go but I think that is no longer the case. I really should cut back on a couple Maple guitars but it's tough when I really appreciate and love all of them.
I've decided that as a way to help keep myself occupied (I get in much less trouble that way) I'm going to start posting pics and comments about most of my guitars, maybe two guitars a week. I'll likely start in January or so.
Anyway, I digress. here's a few pics.
