Why don't you see what the current strings feel like, and see if you're yearning for any tonal change...

These days a lot of folks are recommending phosphor-bronze strings, but really there's a cornucopia of tonal nuance available out there, depending on what you like.

Congrats, by the way! Are you getting the maple model or the "R" rosewood model?

Thanks for the info.

I'm getting the maple model & getting it shipped 'down under' from the States as there aren't many over here.

Have fun discovering what the guitar can do, and the HUGE difference strings can make. Buy a bunch of different strings, play them in for a week, then switch to another set. Really, you need only switch the wound strings to make a difference. Keep the strings you remove - you might want to go back! Maybe it's me... but I kind of enjoy that sort of experimentation.

An addition $.02 from me: I don't like bright, shimmering, sustaining tone. Preferring more warm, fundamental and dry sounds from my guitars. When I had F-50s around the house I strung them up with Thomastiks or Pearse Phosphor Bronze and Silk.

I have my first Guild F50 arriving soon.

I'd be interested to hear any string recommendations. Thanks. :D

Nice "entry" Guild.

I would really like to hear your thoughts on that once you have it a while. I prefer JP strings light gage either PBs or 80/20. I have not seen a better price than what Don sells them for as well.
