Certain guitars are designed with a gauge of string in mind and they perform optimally with those strings. I'm not a slave to convention, I figure try different things. But that being said, I'm currently heading out to the string changing station to reverse a mistake I made about a month ago. My little Taylor GC-8 (grand concert) is a small bodied guitar and short scale. They come with Elixir light strings. I've always over the years varied the brand of string but always lights. This last time I thought to challenge the little guitar with Bluegrass gauge strings with medium lows. Well, it's been a month and it's just too much for that little guitar. It really can't handle that medium gauge and it doesn't sound good, so I'm going back to Elixir lights. It was a mistake, but now I know. You can always try them, it's a jumbo after all, but don't be surprised if it doesn't do what you may expect. Sometimes it just doesn't work. Maybe someone with that particular guitar will answer.
