the guitar has a brass PIN. If I wanted to mount new PINs, which is better: bone or ebony?

Congratulations Badger and make room for another Guild or you have more self discipline than 90% of this forum's members.

I'm not aware of any good tuner replacements that mount with two screws, above and below the tuner, as the "wafflebacks" do.

It's possible that good set of Grover 18:1s, with the tuner screw-hole tab in the center, MAY line up with bottom screw hole.

If not, you'll have to decide whether or not to fill the old screw holes and drill new ones to accommodate a quality set of tuners. (Some people here are *very* queasy about doing that!)

I can't abide mediocre tuners myself. On my favorite guitars, ones I expect to spend a lot of time with, I have no qualms whatever about replacing 'em. (My favorites are Gotoh Delta 510s, with 21:1 tuning ratio.)

The D60 is a darn nice guitar -- congrats!

My D60 had grover tuners. MyD66 had the waffle backs. Two D60 versions. There are new waffle backs out there although I am not positive that they fit Guilds...

My 1983 G45 has the closed back tuners with guild written on them. Do their job well.

Thanks for the tip, Pike!

. . . and they look like they'll match the original screw-holes. They're 15:1 tuning ratio (versus the originals, which are supposedly 12:1) -- so a better tuner than is currently on Badger's Guild too.
