Hi Folks-

Got my first Guild today... a 2006 D-50 Bluegrass Special! So far I like it very much! Initial observations are...

1. The adi top already rings like a bell... in a few years, it should be phenomenal.

2. The neck is a little chunkier than I'm used to (have had mostly Montana Gibsons)

3. Fit and finish is excellent... it's simple, but elegant...

I may go to Waverly tuners for a more vintage look and upgraded function... and maybe an elephant ivory saddle from Bob Colosi for a more vintage sound... other than that, it seems to be right on the money!

I'd let the bone saddle thats on it now age for a year before you change it to something else. It will settle down a bit and probably give you the tone you're looking for.

I'll do that... thanks for the advice. By the way, I think the Guild is nearly as loud and has equal tone to my '03 Advanced Jumbo with a Sitka top, that has a ton of playing time... amazin'. It's harder to play, though, or maybe I just need to get used to the bigger neck.

With a little age, I'm sure it's going to be, well, um, er, uh... even better...
