Hey All,

After much back and forth and tons of really good advice from members here and other forums - I have decided I want a D-50 Bluegrass

I like the adirondack on rosewood.

Sunburst prefered but not required - if you have one or know somebody that has one - I have cash on hand - so if we can work something out, we can move as quickly as we can figure out all the details.

I am in Dallas, Texas. Through offerup, we can get continental shipping for $15, up to 20lbs, which should cover any guitar and case. so, I think I have shipping worked out for us if that needs to occur. I've shipped 22 guitars this way - not a single problem.

Thanks for reading this and let's hope for a sale!

Ryan sounds like he is ready to buy from a member - hope so. Surely, there is someone with one like he wants. Gonna make a wild prediction that Ryan will have a D50 deal from a member by end of day August 2, 2020!

ahhhh, I see.

Well, Let's hope. A couple people are trying to push me towards the D-40 as they believe it sounds better than the 50 .... but, I like rosewood. If I had the money i'd do the D-55 - but I dont have 3500 to spend.

Here's my $.02 worth: Look for a Tacoma built D50, they are the nicest ones I've played.

I'm really looking for that adirondack top - I just got off the phone with a guy and he said martin hd-16r is another contender in that space ... This is getting harder before it get's easier haha.

By Chance, have you @dreadnut had a chance to play the bluegrass version of the D50 ?

Just to clear things up, i'm flying blind here - I haven't played but probably 20 guitars other than the ones I own - so, I'm going off what others have experienced.

I tend to overpack to try to avoid damage but I have yet to ship any guitar I've sold that's 20 # or less. Mine are all in the 25# to 33# range.

I started with 30 guitars - im down to 8. All of them have been shipped through offerup, using USPS. $13.99 for the shipping label. I've yet to have one problem. I'm not sure if offerup has a deal worked out, or what is up - but, that is the way to do it.

If you have a guitar, you list it on offer up, pick the last option, 20#,13.99 option, I offer you $2 for the guitar, you accept, you get the shipping label, I pay $2 + $13.99 shipping - they PDF you the label to your email, you print it out, slap it on the box and take it to the post office.

so far im 22 out of 22 with that method.

Like I said, Offerup might have a deal setup with USPS, but, that's how i've done it and its worked every single time.

So I got the call back - It has a Dtar pickup - apparently same one Vince Gill used, kind of rare these days - $1375 all said and done, shipped. This is the description:
This Guild D-50 was made in New Hartford, CT. This is a great value for an american made acoustic featuring a solid red spruce top over a rosewood back, and sides. The Indian rosewood back and sides provides a nice complex tone.

The guitar is in excellent condition and comes with a pickup installed.

Specs

  • Top Wood - Adirondack Spruce
  • Back/Side Wood - Indian Rosewood
  • Fingerboard Wood - Ebony
  • Scale Length - 25.5"
  • Nut Width - 1 11/16"
  • Pickup(s) -
  • Case - Original Hard case

Some will say, "buy it if you want it. Some will say, "little high." I an an ENABLER and say, "if it checks all the boxes, buy it "
For some reason (cannot imagine) you don't take a liken to it -- sell it. And if you lose a couple bucks, just think of it as "rent." I once lost a $100 bill crawling under a barbed wire fence while quail hunting. Was trying to get back to truck with dogs and beat a storm. Beat the storm and when I took off my huntin' britches, I had a tear on my back pocket where I got hung up on the barbed wire. Guess the wind blew that $100 bill to, only, God knows where. Never found it and this was winter of 1965-66 -- my tobacker crop money. BUY IT.

It's the most ive ever spent on a guitar - I'm hoping it sounds like it's reviewed haha. This ends the guitar journey for a bit..... Im making a guitar wall... this was the last one.... Here is the wall:

2020 Guild F-150CE
2013 Guild D-150CE
2020 Recording King RD-328
2020 Eastman E10D-TC- This might get sold for a 20d-tc, I like rosewood
2020 LJ16 ARE Engleman over rosewood
Seagull S6
Art and Lutherie Wild cherry
Seagull Entourage Mini Rustic
Takamine GN93ce - Really pretty triangle flamed maple in the middle of black walnut back and sides
Takamine MIK EG544SC-4C - Solid Cedar over Solid Koa
Yamaha FGX800C - The only laminate but it just sounds SO good
A Marboral guitar - They SAY they are Martin B-Stock D-28's - who knows, I just know my dad smoked enough cigarettes to get the miles to buy it so, I cant sell it
no name Namm special - no clue who made it but it's awesome, Spruce over Walnut
Parkwood PW-340FM - All Solid Spruce, over Solid flamed maple
And the Guild D-50 should end my journey for now

I have the dual stage hygrometer all ready to be hooked up .. hang the hygrometer next to the guitars then on the wall directly behind, humidifier in one corner, dehumidifier in the other.... hopefully that takes care of the texas humidity and negates me having to case them.

hahahaha yeah - I got a decent job at an oil and gas company - in texas. Working for the family that the show Dallas was based off of ... The same family that owns the KC Chiefs - So, all my extra money was going to guitars. Then I discovered goodwill sells guitars.... at one point my 8 x 4 pool table was 3 layers high full of guitars - there were about 50. No doubt I went through a manic phase hahaha. Like if a Doctor would have been around, they would have surely labeled me with some disorder - I've since sold all but 7 - with the exception of the ones listed above that are going to be kept.

It's been a real dang rollercoaster haha
