PLAYING WELL TOGETHER

Guild® acoustic guitars have long been celebrated for their exceptional tone and playability, a legacy that spans over seven decades. DR® Strings was founded in 1989 by Mark Dronge, the son of Guild’s founder, Al Dronge, with the goal of crafting custom round-core strings specifically designed for Guild guitars. Now, 36 years later and under the leadership of Annika Dronge, granddaughter of Al and current CEO of DR, these two iconic brands are reuniting once again. Moving forward, all Guild USA acoustic guitars will come equipped with DR Dragon Skin+™ Phosphor Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings.

Dragon Skin+ strings feature DR Strings’ patented Accurate Core Technology™, which uses specially engineered grooves on the core wire to securely cradle the wrap wire. This results in a full, balanced tone with vibrant highs, enhanced projection, and superior tuning stability. The 80/20 bronze wrap adds a shimmering clarity, while a micro-thin coating increases playing comfort and extends string life.

It’s a thrilling moment to bring these iconic brands back together, uniting decades of craftsmanship and innovation to offer musicians a seamless, exceptional playing experience that honors both tradition and progress.

Sorry about the formatting. I can’t seem to fix it on my phone.

Hi Mike, just FYI I’m pretty sure we saw something posted about this several months ago. I remember talking about the Dronge connection…. Anyway, just mentioning that to point out it’s not particularly new news. Good thing though!

Mods feel free to delete if a dupe. I just got the email this evening.

I was in my early 20’s and the final inspector during Mr. Dronge’s time in Westerly. It was great. He was great. He added the rock/metal guitar line, with graphic options, to the widespread, excisting line. My friend and I were huge Iron Maiden fans, and they came to Providence with Twisted Sister opening. Sister was playing our guitars at the time. I said to Mr. Dronge, “Holy shit. What’s the chances for tickets to that?” All three of us went together and we had passes and floor seats. 🤟

I met Mark at one of the meetups, and asked him a couple of things about the amps. A few years later, I somehow got an email intended for a French distributor. I replied and let him know that it was missent, just wanting to avoid confusion, and he sent me around ten packs of electric guitar strings. I wasn't expecting anything for what I looked at as the right thing to do.
