I was just wondering, has anybody out there seen any ads in recent magazines for Guilds? I only subscribe to one of the major acoustic mags, but 3-4 months ago the Guild ads stopped.

Are they just trying to lower demand for instruments during the switchover to the new factory?

Finally.......August issue of AC has an ad for the GAD JF30-12....only fitting I guess, since they reviewed the guitar in that issue.

Maybe a magazine has to review a Guild before Fender will purchase an ad....... :?:

I've noticed the lack of Guild ads, other than GADs also. However, lead time for magazines is usually around 90 days. Since New Hartford is just getting going good, I'd expect to see some Guild ads soon. Or maybe they don't have enough dealers left to justify the expense?

I agree, it is getting harder to find a dealer who actually carries Guilds anymore, even among the authorized dealers listed on Guild's website. I called 4-5 dealers within a 2 hour drive last week, and was told by 3 of them that the info was incorrect, they don't carry Guilds anymore. I only know of a Tacoma D-40 Bluegrass Jubillee, a left-hand GAD (don't remember the model), a DV-4 and DV-6, and a NOS D-55 (from Corona, no less!!!), spread out among 3 stores. I even visited one store listed as an authorized dealer, who didn't know that they had moved production to New Hartford!! :(

It's just recently Guilds from Hartford have started showing up. It' been many months sincre new Guild inventory was available. Sales strategy, in my mind anyway, would be direct to the dealers first, later after you get some inventory out there, give the dealers a hand with ads aimed at the retail public.

Could be a smart thing start giving a few to the latest pop stars. Get some of those Ibanez acoustics in closets.

If I could uproot my wife from Ohio, I'd been in Montana a couple years ago. I had heard the work in coal mining was booming. Told her we should buy a truck and hire out up there.....I think she said; it's too far away and cold. egahs!

Use to see alot of Guild ads in AG when I subscribed.

There is work on the east end in coal but I think the real money over there now is oil again. That area from Plentywood south down through south of Sidney to Baker. Wyoming has really kicked their coal business into gear the last twenty years also.
Wyoming and the Dakotas are ahead of Montana on the wind development too. The big transfer lines required got some political help when needed and they got some projects going that are going to pay off pretty big down the road.
We have some line going in now that will make some fields here fairly close viable along with some firming(needed when the wind doesn't blow) options that may open up because of the biomass produced here as crop residue.
It will probably be mostly foreign money that invest to make it work. Not many in this part of the country have the kind of cash it takes to back the development.
When it happens it will produce jobs that pay well which is what we lack up here over a large part of the population.

Bing,
What do you have in the way of a D55?
I'm in the market for one in the $1200.00 to $1500.00 price range.
Thanks,
TMG.
