Appears the Westerly's have been fighting with the Corona and the Hoboken. Then the Hatfield's and McCoy's joined in. Then Grant and R.E. Lee. I can't even tell who won, but I sent all the damn guitars to bed in their cases with no polish and no Barbie playing.

This tread brought out some very good valid debate and properly addressed the original question of "What difference does it make". It's pretty apparent that EVERYONE wishes only the best for Guild and it's continued success.

can't comment on the Hatfield or the the McCoy thing.....I are one
You've got an impressive collection guildzilla, how do you keep the peace in the basement?

well, this has been a funny thread to be sure, but from my perspective, I just hope the best for the company.

The one Tacoma-Tacome model I did see LOOKED unimpressive, but SOUNDED great. I think it was a DM9 or something like that. So I think the competency exists in Washington state to make Guild a top line.

I doubt the building has much to do with whether the guitar is made well, but I may be wrong, especially if the building can be climate controlled.

I would HOPE there would be newer tools at Tacoma, and that the Fender people took a thorough look at how Guilds were put together before they themselves started building them.

Optimistically, with better tools, with a clear eye for design, with skilled hands, the Tacoma operation will work well.

And I think it's right to have a prima facie suspicion that the D-TAR supplier is biased, but that it is also possible that he's speaking objective truth. In other words, I don't think an economic connection to a product necessarily forces a person to lose objectivity about it.

This Turner cat said "They beat the snot out of Westerly guitars"? Is the man kidding? I thought he was supposed to be an expert luthier?

I don't care what he's built or who he is, he obviously doesn't know what he's talking about on this subject. Then again, everyone is entitled to an opinion. He may be right though, Carlo Greco and George Gruhn knew nothing about building acoustics.

Rick Turner Is perhaps most widely known for hybrides and chambered electrics and as a builder of such he's into pickup systems in a big way. Famous players are John McVie and Lindsay Buckingham of Fleetwood Mac
Non the less a bit of modesty might suit him and not so much blowing of his own trumpets.

Sitka,

You don't think his opinion could at all be swayed by the fact that he has a pickup deal with Fender, which are being installed in the Tacoma Guild acoustics, do you? :p
