This is one of our puppies, Indy. She is an F1b Goldendoodle (F1 Goldendoodle backbred to a standard poodle, so 75% Poodle, 25% Golden Retriever)

Her owner's friend tried to convince her that she was actually a Newfoundland, and tried to convince her that I lied about her breeding! He even brought over photos of Newfs to prove his point, LOL.

And this is one of the puppies that we kept, Timber:

Anyone who thinks that's a Newf has never actually seen a Newf. I could be biased having been surrounded by them for 25 years, though.

Also, "one of our puppies" then, "her owner's friend" has me confused, but I haven't slept much.

I can see where that might be confusing. We had three litters of puppies, Indy is one of them but does not belong to us. Our Mama dog, Koko, had 35 puppies total, and we kept two of them.

Mark, we need to get them groomed 3-4 times a year. It's a good trade-off for no shedding though!

Here's the other one we kept, Pixie. Smile for the camera, Pixie!

WOW

Looking at that thick fur at this time of year one starts to wonder how much of what not they collect in there while running in the wild

Now THAT's a good deal - even though labrador retriever has short fur - it is everywhere all the time.
Most peculiar place ever was when I was slicing cheese with cheese planer - there was a black doghair on that new surface. After first schock I reasoned, that it must've been already attached on bottom of cheese plane.

These are awesome dogs, great new breed.

Yeah, they have wonderful personalities and have the intelligence of both the Standard Poodle and the Golden Retriever.

A few of our puppies are companion dogs for special needs kids and one for an adult stroke victim. All they want to do is be next to you.

Nuuska, ours get heartworm and tick meds in the warm months. Now that its getting colder here they won't need the meds again until next May. I just gave them their last dose of the year last week.

We have an acre fenced in out back, so they don't get to roam outside the fence. They still manage to get into cockleburrs and sticktites out there though! Sticktites are the worst!

Well, GG, hypoallergenic is a misnomer. It's a term used to sell dogs, but there is actually no thing as a "hypoallergenic dog." Ours don't shed, but all dogs' coats have some dander, and they pick up dust, pollen, etc. when they are outside. Non-shedding dogs are less likely to cause allergies though.

Funny, all 35 of of our puppies were chocolate brown, but here are the Mama and Papa, Koko the F1 Goldendoodle and Magnum the Standard Poodle; go figure. Primarily, they both have the recessive brown gene, so they have brown eyes, brown nose, brown lips, brown paw pads, etc.

Both my boys have sadly passed away now - Golden Retriever and Airedale Terrier ... born with one white colored leg!

There were three litters, one year apart: 11 the first time, 11 the second time, 13 the third time. Pixie was the smallest one of all, from the third litter, with a birth weight of only 5 oz. We gave her preferential feeding time with Koko, and we bottle fed some of that litter - Koko only had 12 teats.
Koko had puppies at age 3, 4, and 5, then we retired her. Wanna work your butt off? Have a litter of puppies. I can't begin to tell you how many times I counted to 11 and 13; I felt like Foghorn Leghorn chasing the little chicks around the yard!

And they start eating dog food mush at about 4 weeks, so from that time forward, Koko wanted nothing to do with them; it was all on me after that.

1st litter @ six weeks:

Well, for me, every little bit helps. :)

I am unofficially allergic to cats. Unofficial because no doctor has ever told me that but it is obvious from cat scratches and breathing that I am :) Practical experience is that I do not react in the same degree to all cats and that the reaction is consistent (and sometimes non-existent) with some breeds. Given the definition of hypoallergenic that compares two things and assigns the label to the thing that is more likely to have reduced allergic reactions, I'm fine with referring to a cat or dog breed as hypoallergenic. It tells me which breeds I should consider first. I understand that it does not mean there will be no allergy symptoms, merely that it is reasonable to expect they will be reduced compared to other breeds. So I am all right with breeders using the term "to sell". But I am cynical enough not to believe it unless we are dealing with purebred, pedigreed animals and there are other sources that support the claim.

But if someone thinks hypoallergenic means no allergy symptoms or no dander then I'm right next to you throwing the BS flag.

Well frono, I stand corrected once again - I looked up the definition of "hypoallergenic" and it does in fact mean "less likely to cause allergic reactions." I thought it meant "will not cause allergic reactions." My bad.

So, my dogs are hypoallergenic. By the way, they are not purebred or pedigreed, they are a cross breed.

No problem. Wasn't trying to correct as much as taking an opportunity to vent. I think we all are finding interesting ways to relieve stress.
