I just listened to Glenn's (aka Wiley Pickett) newest CD and it is truly a gem. I've always loved his playing style. It's soothing, relaxing and contemplative and helps put me into a good frame of mind. I had to Google Vade Mecum because, being the ignorant redneck I am, I had no idea what it meant. But, now I know.

This might be my favorite of the CD's of his which I now own. Some of that is likely the "newness" but I'm pretty sure that even after that wears off it will be one of my go-to CD's that I play nearly daily.

All the songs are good but # 5 "Each Crystal Pane Of Glass" and # 6 "A Handul Of Snow, really speak to me.

If you get a chance you should check it out. It won't disappoint.

Nice! Where is it available now? I’m seeing 6/24 as the release date.

Available in red vinyl, too. How cool is that?
Hope Glenn does not mind if I add the album cover to this thread, it is beautiful. Glenn's album artwork is always tremendous, and this may well be the best one yet. (Anyone else feel some Hieronymus Bosch tones from that neck?)

Seven photos here. The full front/back image is worth checking out (the album sleeve opens to a full-length portrait).

Thanks for the interest!

I just got back from a little tour, my first since the one that ended in December 2019.

I very much enjoyed playing out again (feels like a lifetime ago!) but even better was seeing friends I haven't seen in two+ years. (A life lesson -- don't take anything for granted.)

My album was supposed to be out in time for the tour, but every LP pressing plant in the country is backed up and the LP won't be out till late June.

However, my label, Thrill Jockey, was able to get CDs to me in advance of the tour. If anyone wants to buy one, PM me.

Glenn, that's great! Ain't it wonderful to be out performing again?!?!

Steeped a cup of Japanese Gyokuro green tea, put on Vade Mecum and gave it a listen. It was a perfect zen-like experience. Highly recommended!

For anyone in the area I’m going to Glenn’s show in Boston on June 25th. Mrs. Mikey may go as well but may not. If you go perhaps we can sync up before the show. It’s In a very intimate venue, so should be quite wonderful.

FYI, Glenn’s show was terrific. If you ever get the chance go see him. Besides his cool open tunings and unique melodies he is an entertaining storyteller. Fun time.

Thanks MIke!

I kinda blew the encore -- hadn't played it in a while, assumed I could play it in my sleep, and then fumbled it -- sorry!

But it was nice turnout, great sound, and sales of LPs and T-shirts were huge-ish. (I made more on merch sales than I did for the show itself.)

The album just hit and is being nicely received -- reviews forthcoming in MOJO, Uncut and Wire -- and I just did an interview for Guitar Player.

I'd hoped to show off your GF60 at the show, but the saddle still needs a bit of tweaking and I didn't have time to get to it before the show. Next time!

BTW -- LTGer Heath Finnie was there too, but the two of you weren't in the same place at the same time so I wasn't able to introduce you.

Glad both of you were able to make it out -- again thanks!

I'm jealous. Sometimes living in the sticks and the middle of nowhere doles have its drawbacks. I'd love to hear Glenn. Love his material for sure.

I like the original Latin translation of Vade Mecum… “go with me”. That’s a great title for an instrumental album. I listened to Glenn’s album this week and thoroughly enjoyed it! 🙂

Thanks for posting this GJM -- glad to know my old home state hasn't forgotten one of her native sons!

"Each Crystal Pane of Glass" may be my favorite to listen to on the album. My favorites to play change, but the title track and "John Jackson of Fairfax, Virginia" are wearing pretty well.

Shameless plug -- I just got more color vinyl LPs via UPS this morning. (First batch sold out.)

PM me if it's of interest -- and if LPs are still part of your listening experience!

And that red vinyl would pair up nicely with one of these

If you like Glenn's music you'll probably like John Fahey's music as well. An icon from the '60's and '70's and beyond.
