Hi all, I just received a brand new s-200 tbird from Sweetwater today, and it didn't include a gigbag. A few years ago I had a black one, and one of the cherry ones with the simple stoptail bridge and no switches, and both included the very nice plush guild gig bag. This one didn't however. Does anyone have any insight into this? Also, while I'm asking questions, is there a way to reorient the trem arm holder on the hagstrom trem? It came with the arm holder positioned over the strings, not exactly ideal. Thanks for any help!

Not just Guild. This year G&L replaced the nice G&G hardshell case with a gigbag on their "Deluxe series" US-made guitars. Those are $1400 guitars!
I really haven't followed G&L much since they went four-bolt and nasty, virtually finishless necks.

I'd buy the proper hardshell case for it.

Guild hsc's have always been an add-on. Back when I bought my '76 D25M, the case was extra. I don't think they had thought of gig bags back then yet, at least they didn't offer them as an option.

Many Guilds come with cases today (my X175 Manhattan Special came with one)

Historically, it depends on the guitar and the year. Plenty of guitars came with cases over the years. Pulled a catalog page up at random - this one is 1995 and most of the guitars on the page came with cases:

There must be, I see it in all different positions when I look at pics.

Ummm... Not always. It was an add on for my '71 JS II but other three Guilds in the house that were purchased new came with a HSC.

As for gig bags there are reports of 1960's Starfire basses that have an original gig bag so someone did think of and sell them before 1970.

I finally found which case had the trem arm. After it’s locked in, it should swivel. Yours may be tight, but the post rotates.
I'll try it out, not exactly a huge deal as I really don't like any non-bigsby trem, but always nice to have the option. As for cases, I believe I read on here that a Fender Jazzmaster/Jaguar case could accommodate the gumby shape. It's quite a high quality guitar in my opinion, I flipped the last two I had and made a little money on them, but I wanted another to keep because I was afraid Guild was going to phase them out

Bummer ! I was considering to buy a s 200 in the future. I really need a gig bag for it since I would take it to my guitar lessons and I go there by bike . Would a standard gig bag fit this guitar ?

Maybe try finding a used S-200 with the Guild gig bag. Also I believe some shops still have them new with gigbag in inventory.

Thanks for your suggestion. Just saw on the guild website that the gig bags can still be purchased seperately also !

Good point! The "Solid Body - Large" is the size they show:

Well, I stand corrected yet again!
