Hi everyone,
I have a 1985 S-281. When I got it from reverb it came in a very cheap gig bag (basically a black plastic bag with zippers), can anyone recommend a decent gig bag that will fit this sort of odd shaped body well?

I dont know if it fits, but qualitywise https://monocreators.com/ are top notch. I have 2 vertigos and they are great!
I’m confident it would fit. Those bags fit jazzmaster style guitars. I even squeezed a Starfire V in (albeit with great strain on the seams).

I ultimately decided to go with Reunion Blues. I felt like the interior would a little more robust. I love their dual bag. I have no regrets.

Thanks. Oddly enough, I've never actually owned a gig bag before. I've only had hardshell cases.
That was me prior to this year. It’ll be hard to go back to hard cases. I love my Reunion Blues. Mono was a VERY close second. If they were the same price I probably would have gone with mono because it’s a better misc storage. But RB fits my cars better and was softer on the wallet.

M80 Vertigo is actually roomy (and secure) enough to fit one of these acoustics into it

Mono has a great reputation online so they’re probably a good choice.

I have a bag from a company called “iGig” and it’s magnificent. I find it better than the Mono bags I’ve encountered. Sadly, I think Covid killed them because they are no more.

I have the Mono Vertigo and I like it. These days though, it may cost almost as much as your S-281.

I had a great experience buying a more typical/inexpensive gig bag, that is pretty high quality for what it is...for my Pilot bass, from this somewhat questionable/sketchy reviews website around Black Friday. I got the gig bag for less than $10 delivered (is probably a 30-50 dollar gig bag). Have you heard of teemu? I think they ship directly from China and basically follow zero laws if there are any, regarding free trade or what have you. the deals are just totally insane, but many of the reviews are negative. I would not buy anything that requires any customer service or to suit a significant preference, whatsoever. basically anything you buy is a gamble...but I had the 10 bucks to gamble, for a gig bag that would likley be fine, as long as it showed up at all...thankfully I was right. But for example if you buy a blender and it shows up and doesnt work, or is a different blender than the one you ordered...too bad. If you buy a 50 pack of Ernie ball strings for $5.00, you may get 50 packs of strings...but they may not be Ernie Balls, or they may be fake Ernie Balls...understood? but for a gig bag at the right price, there is not much that can go wrong, other than the thing just not showing up.

here's the link, good luck!

One of my daughter's friends is addicted to Temu. From what I've seen "basically follow zero laws" is spot on. Could be a complete copy of something else, or it could be a complete lie. You're tactic of gambling is the right way to go if you partake.

I see them show up in Nixie groups all the time. Example: ClocTeck Nixie Tube Clock Walnut Digital Desk Clock - yeah, there are no Nixies in that clock at all.

there was Temu and then another site that was even more sketchy, that may have been the one with the Ernie Balls. I passed on that second site, got well educated in the comments. Almost bit after the gig bag score, but came to my senses, as per above.

If you are near to any MusicGoRound store, they have a lot of used cases of varying quality. You should be able to find a rectangular case that will fit for not too much $$.
