They wanted to use existing parts and existing superstructures. All they had to do is add a middle pickup. The controls are a costsaving measure.

The replacement arrived today. I changed the strings, and as soon as i loosened a few, the nut fell off. I didnt know what to say. I glued it back on, put a new set of strings i prefer, and added the Compton bridge. It plays different than the other. The action is uniform and low. I would shoe a pic, but it looks exactly like the first one. This is the third issue i have had with a new guild. The a150 truss rod, the first x350 uneven fret board , and this one the nut not glued on. To some this may seem trivial, but at the price point it shouldn’t happen. I have faith in the shop i got it from for returning it to guild for me, and sending me another they had in stock. I am passified with new guitarness for now.................

That's stuff I don't understand as they do a full quality check of each Newark St. guitar in Oxnard before they ship to dealers. I can only imagine that the nut maybe fell off during shipment as a nut is never glued in solid but just lightly fixed with two drops of glue.
But I would report those issues directly to Guild and Cordoba Music Group in Oxnard, because it's them who have to take action to avoid something like this.

This reminded me of something I found curious with my NS X-350. I bought it from GC in December 2020, after the GC site said it had been out of stock for a while. The box the guitar arrived in had the below sticker from Cordoba, dated 2020-03-19. So what was this guitar doing between March and December? Sitting in Oxnard awaiting distribution? Just seems like a long time to sit at Cordoba when the retailers appeared to be consistently selling out of inventory.

I added the Compton bridge.
Did you attach that to the posts that are drilled into the top, or is it floating? And how do the sound and playability compare to the factory TOM bridge? I've decided I like the tone as-is, but always wondering if the grass is greener.....

Probably sitting in Korea while they dealt with the pandemic. I suspect that label was stamped when the guitar was packed at the factory. That's when the supply chains started to go south.

Possible, but also possible it was sitting in Oxnard. Remember that factory people were sent home for some time and no production happened in most guitar factories in the US like PRS, Taylor,...and Guild.

Check the serial for date of manufacture, then a best guesstimate for shipping to the port, time in the freighter, customs.
That should get you close. Does the box get that lable at the factory or at the warehouse? In any case, that's around the time the wheels came off the bus in America, plague-wise.

When the new one arrived, it played better than the first as it had no warped fret board but I couldn’t get the strings as low as I prefer. Even though the bridge that comes with it has a slight arc, it doesn match a Compton made for a 9.5 fretboard. I hear and feel a difference in sustain. The body on these is thick, so unplugged it’s not really louder, but a Compton on a solid thinner top guitar increase volume unplugged. He makes a good product, and a selection of materials. Copper and brass sound different than the stainless i use. When in doubt, email him, his name is Wayne. Also check out gretsch talk website as many there use them as well.

Here are pictures of the serial number and the factory inspection tag I found in the case. I don't know how to decode the serial number beyond year 2020. Factory inspection date is 2 days before the date on the box. Does factory inspection mean Korea or Oxnard? If Korea, we still don't know where it sat for 9 months. I guess none of this matters unless we want to geek out on Guild supply chains. But I suppose the longer a guitar sits somewhere the higher the chance something bad could happen to it.

There is nothing else to "decode". KSG20 means Korea SPG Guild 2020, the numbers behind are running numbers without any coding of month or day.

Does factory inspection mean Korea or Oxnard?
SPG Korea!

This is Oxnard:

I contacted the store i got mine from, and they said that Guild does not put those OK cards inside import guitars, only american made. When i rechecked, my savoy didnt have one either. Perhaps that tag is for the case?

Sorry, that SPG inspection tag has nothing to do with a case if you read it (finish, tuning, action). I guess it slipped through inspection in Oxnard and usually they would take it out. Remember that was all Covid time already so many things went different to normal...
