I love this album and hadn't listened to it in a while until today. Anybody know what kind of Guild he's got in the liner notes? It's looks like a late 50's or early 60's X-175 to me. It's got SCs. Did he play it during those recording sessions?

Btw, I'm new here.

Hello MrBoZiffer,

Welcome! Is there a photo on the album sleeve that you can show us?

Sincerely,

It's the same pic as above except it shows the lower half of the guitar. The headstock has the square Kold tuners, the pups look like SC DeArmonds and the guard is the plain guard without "Guild" on it. I'm guessing it's either a late 50's X-500 or X-175. I thought someone here might know off the top of their head. I'd be interested to know if he actually used it during those sessions, because his guitar sounds great on that album... very round and full.

That's an Artist Award from the '60s.

Can't really see the pickups but from what I can see it looks like a late '50s X-550 or X-500B, depending on the year it was made in.

I have no way of knowing if he actually used his Guild guitars on all of his recordings.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

I think you're right about it being a 500. Considering the pups, binding and G shield, it's definitely not a 175. Thanks!
