Actor Geoffrey Hughes, who played him, was very popular in Britain. He was also in The Royle Family, Heartbeat and for many years he was a major character in the soap opera Coronation Street.

I was looking at CL this morning, and there was an ad for a Martin GPCPA4 which caught my eye, not because I was interested in the guitar but because the price seemed quite low.

The poster leavened the ad with what looks like an elementary school kid's exercise sheet on cause and effect.
