I am a fan of the fingerpicking and raconteur-ing of Gamble Rogers. The memorial foundation website in his honor has what appears to be a cut away D-55 at the header. http://www.gamblerogers.com/ Anyone know anything about this guitar?

TIA,
Frosty

The headstock looks more like a D-70 or D-100 with the rounded edges.

Hi everybody,

At this point I'm not convinced we're looking at an actual Guild guitar. It might be some sort of collage or maybe an artist rendering of a Guild.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

It has an unusual neck/body joint.

Thank you for that story - I had never known why he disappeared from the scene up here - he was always a favourite with our Vancouver crowd, and was indeed a gentleman.

I just played a couple of tunes on my GF-60R, the descendant of Gamble Rogers' F-44 #100001, with a whole new appreciation.

Thanks again

I wasn't quite as aware of guitars at this time, but I have a vivid memory of Gamble playing at the last show, which was at about 1 in the morning at the Earl of Old Town in Chicago round about 1975, playing the blues and Hank Williams songs. I saw him a number of times in Chicago and at the Exit Inn in Nashville during this time period. He was a great performer and a wonderful story teller. It's a shame his talents were cut short.
