I was curious to find some details regarding my Guild. I have a serial number GAD44803 on a label inside but also 1003020192 - I found another thread that mentions this number so if I understand it correctly it's March 2010 then? But why the 'second' serial number on the label?

The date sounds right, relatively late in the original GAD series before they redesigned (satin-finished necks) and renumbered (100 series) the guitars. I wish I could help with the mystery of the second serial number.

Welcome.

From https://letstalkguild.com/ltg/index...e stamped, number identify the production year.

Dating GUILD GAD Instruments

Guild introduced the GAD instruments in January of 2004. The GAD serial numbers begin with GAD- followed by 5 digits. There are not separate prefixes for each model of guitar, and the serial numbers alone do not provide specific dating information for the instruments.

All GAD instruments are stamped with a 10 digit internal manufacturing number located in the soundhole, at the base of the heel block. This number embodies production information about the instrument. As an example, we’ll use a random number 1104330026.
The first two digits of this number identify the production year. In this case, 11 would stand for 2011.
The second two digits identify the production month. In this case, 04 would stand for April.
The next two digits, 33, are of no significance and are an internal number used by the vendor to identify their order number.
The last four digits identify the unit number of the order. In this case, 26 would stand for the 26th instrument made to the 33rd order.
So 1003020192 tells me

March 2010

Item number 192 in the 2nd order.

Since the order number is internal I don't know if they were assigned consecutively and thus we cannot say that 100302xxxx is older or newer than 100301xxxx. I would be comfortable saying 1003010192 is older than 1003010193.

Welcome to LTG! I can't help with your question, but I know those Guild GAD guitars are typically the best of the offshore models... I know since I recently picked up a GAD D125-12 and it is truly amazing for a guitar that costs a small fraction of the U.S. models (which, I must say, are beyond amazing and into the spectacular category. 😁)

I tried one in 2010 and really liked it, but foolishly didn't buy it immediately; they were then discontinued (damn!) but the shop kept my number and I was fortunate enough to grab one that came back in, was barely six months old, nearly mint (the protective film was still on the pick guard!) and around £100 less - naturally I was very happy.
Thanks for the feedback
