Hi All - I'm relatively new to this forum but am a longtime Guild player. I'm looking for a GN-5 because I would like a nylon with a 1 3/4 nut and built-in electronics. I like my GC-2 but want a thinner neck. Any leads on a good GN-5 would be appreciated.

Regards - Doc

Hello Doc! I’m going to repost what I’ve said before about Guild’s crossover nylon guitars. I had the GAD 4N with mahogany body and loved it, then upgraded to the GAD 5N with padauk body and I love it equally. I think this series is the best cross-over nylon guitar out there for the money. Sorry but mine is not for sale. Good luck in your search!

And if you haven’t seen this, here’s a nice performance example played on a GN-5 Guild GN-5NAT Review - YouTube

************************************
Guild made a few nylon string crossover models with a 1-3/4" nut. Look for one of these discontinued models; all have ebony fretboard, a venetian-style cutaway and the narrower 1 3/4” nut, but were built with different woods:

GAD N4: solid spruce top, solid mahogany back and sides
GAD N5: solid cedar top, solid African padauk back and sides
GN-5: solid cedar top and solid rosewood back and sides

The early N4 and N5 models came with a Seymour Duncan Timber-line pickup installed. They later changed to a Fishman pickup.

The GN-5 came with a Fishman Sonitone pickup installed.

These Guilds have flat fretboards like other classicals too whereas some crossover guitars have radiused fretboards.

Watch for the serial number being covered over showing it went to MIRC. My N5 had the pickup removed. Still Sounds great. May add JJB pickup. Keep looking at Reverb.

Hey Tom - Good advice. My CV-2 is a MIRC but I knew that before purchasing.
