So I bought this 1959 T-100D off of EBay almost four years ago and have loved it very much, but I’m not playing it enough and have another Guild incoming, so it’s time for someone else to play this great guitar. As far as I can tell, all of the parts are original except for the bridge, which I replaced with a newer Guild bridge from the 1990s to achieve better intonation. The original bridge will be included.

Everything works well, trussrod and electronics included and the neck is straight. It has great sounding Franz single coil pickups with strong output. The Grover Sta-tite tuners are a bit frustrating to deal with, but it does stay in tune once you get it there. I didn’t want to mess with it’s original parts, so I’ve lived with it. I’d replace them if I was gigging the guitar though. The headstock face has shrunk and is pulling up a bit, but has been stable since i bought it and doesn’t affect playability. This is a ghost label model that apparently has ghostly ink on the label, because nothing is legible at all.

It does have significant finish checking on the front of the guitar and a mark on the back of the neck near the neck joint that I assume came from it’s original case. It seems a previous owner refretted it and whoever did it did an excellent job with appropriately sized medium frets. It plays very well with a great, full neck carve. The neck is deeper and wider than my 68 X-500 ot my S-90. The nut measures about 1 9/16ths, maybe 1 10/16ths wide. Sadly, I don’t have the original case, so I will ship it in an acoustic guitar case with extra padding to protect the guitar in a guitar shipping box.

Pictures will be added shortly once I figure out how to use imgur again.

I’m asking $1300 shipped to the lower 48 U.S. for forum members. Please feel free to ask questions and I will do my best to answer them and can take more pictures too. Edited to reflect new lowered price.

FWIW, the NS Starfire case should fit this perfectly. I tried my 68 SFIII in one and it fit like a glove.

Here’s a bump to remind that this guitar is still for sale. Offers will be entertained. I will add some more pictures soon and will likely put it up on eBay. I’ll miss it, but something has to go.

From the pictures it looks like the guitar has a perfect neck set angle with plenty of room under those thumb wheels. That's impressive for a guitar of that age.......that sucker was built well. That's a real "no headaches" vintage guitar.
Good luck with the sale.

Nice guitar, I just found the sister, in To.. and it is lovely to play. Needs a bit of a tweak to get the action where it should be.. it's a 59 also, same colours, or I wouldn't comment, good luck with the sale!!!

Thanks for all the kind words about this guitar. It really is a cool one, but the tone just doesn’t work for me. As far as the neck angle and bridge height: set up with the original bridge, which has taller feet, it’s adjusted all the way down but plays just right, at least for me. With the newer Guild bridge there is tons of room to adjust. I will include both bridges with the guitar. Even better, I never had the bridge shift position on me, and I bend strings a lot!

New price: $1300 shipped to the lower 48 by USPS Priority.

And it’s still for sale everyone. I hope you all are staying safe and healthy. I’ve had some questions about the original bridge and string height over the bridge pickup. Hopefully these new pictures with the original bridge on the guitar will help.

Please close this thread. This T-100D is no longer for sale because I made the mistake of playing it a bunch and fell in love with it all over again. Oh well, debt isn't the end of the world when it comes to vintage guitar ownership, right?

After much thought, I am posting my 1959 T-100D up for sale again. I will stick with the same price I asked for before: $1300 shipped by USPS Priority Mail to the lower 48 U.S. states. I do not have a hard case for it, but will include a padded acoustic guitar gig bag and will VERY carefully pack the guitar in a new guitar shipping box with plenty of padding. It's a wonderful guitar, but I have my heart set on getting a Starfire IV (or SF-4?) and can't keep everything.

Here is a link to my original post about this guitar here on LTG with pictures and more information:

I'm happy to answer questions and take additional pictures on request.

Edit: I'm happy to arrange to meet in person for delivery if you are in the eastern MA area. It would be great to avoid shipping it.
