So I bought this 1959 T-100D off of EBay almost four years ago and have loved it very much, but I’m not playing it enough and have another Guild incoming, so it’s time for someone else to play this great guitar. As far as I can tell, all of the parts are original except for the bridge, which I replaced with a newer Guild bridge from the 1990s to achieve better intonation. The original bridge will be included.
Everything works well, trussrod and electronics included and the neck is straight. It has great sounding Franz single coil pickups with strong output. The Grover Sta-tite tuners are a bit frustrating to deal with, but it does stay in tune once you get it there. I didn’t want to mess with it’s original parts, so I’ve lived with it. I’d replace them if I was gigging the guitar though. The headstock face has shrunk and is pulling up a bit, but has been stable since i bought it and doesn’t affect playability. This is a ghost label model that apparently has ghostly ink on the label, because nothing is legible at all.
It does have significant finish checking on the front of the guitar and a mark on the back of the neck near the neck joint that I assume came from it’s original case. It seems a previous owner refretted it and whoever did it did an excellent job with appropriately sized medium frets. It plays very well with a great, full neck carve. The neck is deeper and wider than my 68 X-500 ot my S-90. The nut measures about 1 9/16ths, maybe 1 10/16ths wide. Sadly, I don’t have the original case, so I will ship it in an acoustic guitar case with extra padding to protect the guitar in a guitar shipping box.
