Not a gig, rehearsal last Thursday. 4 hours of fun, gave me the chance to try out this old Guild at high volume, see what it can do. Biggest surprise was how fine it is on open tunings and slide. Here's No expectations. We'd never tried it before, so it sure is ragged:

And for regular tuning, the drummer started singing "Wild Thing" and I went with it ... never tried this before, so even more ragged:

Polished it is not. But I think you get the idea on how the S-90 sounds through a cranked Ampeg Gemini II. I'm happy as hell to have both!

Love the tone in the slide. Reminded me of old Keith Richards stuff in the 70's.

I much appreciate your kind remarks gentlemen. Thank you.

That Ampeg clearly loves the S-90. The Gemini II continually amazes me. It's very different from the others I've played. No longer stock, has a larger PT (super reverb size I think), changed OT, 6L6s, and (probably most important) a tube rectifier. Plus a Big Ben speaker.

They make a great pair. This amp plays equally nice with telecasters. It's the least expensive, most beat up amp I own, and might just be the best.

MD,

You gotta keep the Ampeg love on the Down low.
It is hard for me to do, but I don't want the vintage junkies driving up the prices. I have got killer deals on all of my Ampeg stuff so far.

Cheers, Jeff
