Braxton Bragg became a Confederate General. Before the American Civil War he was in the US Army and stationed at at frontier post. At one point he was commandant and acting quartermaster. He wrote a series of letters from himself as commandant of his post demanding supplies. He then answered those letters as the acting quartermaster of the post saying that he had no supplies. So he really was arguing with himself.
