Keep the faith Matt, and keep on searching. If you haven't read the article by Janis Ian about her father's D-18 that was stolen, her search for it, and ultimate return it's worth a read. You can find it at this link http://www.janisian.com/articles-perfsong.html scroll down to the article titled "Of Guitars and Righteous Men" and you can download a pdf of the article from the January, 1999 Performing Songwriter Magazine.

Wow, great article! I can't imagine the connection she had to that guitar. And not having it for almost 30 years. Definately helps me keep the faith. Thank you for sharing.

I believe that is the pickup that was on the guitar. Is that a LR Baggs Duet and not a Duet II? I have an Duet II on a guitar and it is cut into the top sidewall. For some reason, I remember the pickup on my Father's guitar being less visible.

Matt

Matt, I believe that one was called the Baggs Dual Source. Do you remember when approx. the pickup and controls were installed? If it was more than 10 years ago, I don't think that the Duet was already available at that time but I may be wrong.

Sincerely,

Hans,

I am almost certain that he purchased the guitar in '95. I grew up listening to my father play his old Alverez. When he bought the Guild, the Alverez went to my younger brother. It wasn't until Dec. of '96 when I was home from college on Christmas break that I picked up the Alverez and started playing. I didn't start paying attention to "THE" Guild until I started to play. Now, I do think that my Dad had the pickup installed after he purchased the Guild. As I remember it, it would have been somewhere around '98. I know for sure it was a LR Baggs because he wanted to get the pickup that the Eagles used. Do you know if the LR Baggs Duel Source also had a version that was a little more hidden inside. If not, I am sure that was the pickup. It had a mic as well as a pickup.

Thanks Hans,

Matt

A nice one just appeared on eBay, in Seattle. I don't think it has a pickup, though.

It's auction #170281958697.

Interesting thread, good luck in your search.
