I think about this a lot.

At this point it is "I Saw Her Standing There": They were above all else, a bar band with their craft, skill, chops, and creativity honed at village fetes, school dances, and never-ending sets at The Cavern Club and 48 straight nights at The Indra Club in Hambug.

That's worse than asking a mother who her favorite kid is!! :D

My head says Rubber Soul/Revolver era...my heart says Beatles Second Album through Beatles For Sale era. I simply cannot choose as tomorrow it'll be something different.

(yes, I'm one of those 6'4 240 lb guys w/ a full grey beard you see completely balling like a 5 yr old girl at a Macca concert when he breaks into his oldies medley! Me and my first Fisher Price record player literally wore out the grooves of many early Beatles 45's! (that and early Beach Boys! )

All of them.

Excellent answer!

There's one exception for me, if we assume it's a "song", and that is "Revolution #9". I can listen to it if I have to, but I found years ago that it is impossible to drive while it plays. On a decent stereo and at a certain volume, it is much too intense. Although it was created by Lennon, Ono, and George Harrison together, it is still credited "Lennon-McCartney".

It would probably be something from Rubber Soul or Revolver, but I'd have to pull them out and listen. I wasn't a huge Beatles fan, they hit when I was in HS and had been a blues and jazz fan for a few years, so there early stuff didn't impress me, I did find there later stuff better, but never to the point that I wore them out.

Right now it's Don;t Let Me Down. I love the guitar parts and the keys too.

I also love this version because of the guitar solos at the end and how loose they are with it.

I though I would eventually outgrow the early stuff, but...fortunately for me, I never did....and now after amassing upwards of 60-70 unofficial live recordings of theirs...all 62-66, crap PA's, no monitors to speak of, it simply AMAZES me how great these musicians really were. They definitely put in their 10,000 hrs before they broke big, and it showed. To not be able to hear each other at all and still harmonize beautifully...for Paul to sing lead and switch on a dime to take high harmony on choruses. Pure magic. (y) Yes they were a "boy band", but boy could they play!!

The thing about The Beatles is that as they progressed, every song was great, but it was also completely different from the previous one. Some bands tend toward a signature sound; not so The Beatles.
